2023 First Pitch Banquet announced

Have you ever been? If so, how was it?
Yes, I’ve been to all since CTV has been here. I have enjoyed all of them. I like hearing about the program, seeing the new guys, and talking to the people I see at LNS during the season. It gets you excited for the upcoming season.

Legendary former Texas coach Augie Garrido was the first banquet’s speaker. IIRC, other years’ speakers have been former Vols. There was a round table discussion with Hochevar, Gomes, Arencibia, and Borbon one year. Phil Garner was real funny last year (he spoke with Chris Burke).

I went last year. It was a lot of fun as Phil Garner was the speaker and Chris Burke was the emcee. CTV did a great job of introducing the players and was very personable and engaging as were the players they sat at our table. I’d recommend it.

I noticed the gentleman on the right is wearing an old Bullpen Club shirt. That was the baseball specific way to support the program a long time ago. It probably ended under Raleigh. No idea if it’d fit in under the current UTAD way of doing things.
Great seeing you tonight @1RBFjr. Thanks for being so nice to my daughter. Yes, Snapper is a legendary fan. Rumor is he used to tape his ankles and only eat baby food during the week of the Bama football game. I wish I would have known he was going to First Pitch Banquet.

Good to see you and your daughter, too @taylorvol . Good to see @dh24 as well.

This was the largest banquet the program had since CTV started them. First one was in CTV’s first season in the Tennessee Terrace at Neyland Stadium with (I’m guessing) under 20 tables. Tonight’s event had 63 tables, sitting eight people each. I was lucky to sit next to Zane Denton and we also had Ethan Payne and Reese Chapman at the table- all very good guys. Lots of good momentum for the program. Looking forward to this season!

Kirby was gracious per usual. Loved the cowboy hat. Notable alumni from 22 team who attended included Luc Lipsius, Evan Russell, Cortland Lawson, Trey Lipscomb, Connor Pavolony. I’m sure there were others that I didn’t see. We sat with Kyle Booker and Cal Stark. Impressive guys and I think Booker is primed for a breakout season.
