Definitely an exciting player.....
When she moves up in the box, she is ready for action....
Isn't a drag bunt allowed if contact is made within the batters' box? The 8 sec clip, to me, looks like she is way out of the batters' box.

Good eye.....She should be out......She steps toward the pitcher and is at least a complete step out of the box......

Slappers drive me nuts! The new rules are designed to end the slappers ability to dominate like the old days. ..

She is way out of the box. She will get a heavy dose of change ups at the next level!

My daughter has played against her over the years. She is a typical UT pitcher, tall throws low 60's no matter what the articles are saying. They beat us in a close game but we had no issues putting the bat on the ball this past summer. Very strong pitcher but overall she's not on the same level as Ashley Rogers when she was a JR. The addition of Megan will be an asset as long as Karen gives duties of calling games. Very similar to Sprang if I had to compare her to someone.

Pannell is a very good player. September 1st was the first day the junior class could talk to coaches phone, text, facetime since the new rule went into place. Having 6 players on board seems fast for offers to go out and accepted to kids who have not been seen live since they were Freshman. No camps, no games etc. This class is very good on paper, just wondering how they were able to throw offers out on day 1 when there was almost a two year no talk. Like I said previously Pickens is solid and so is Pannell.

A lot of these players had contact before the rule change, but if you don't think players are not contacted through back channels like their travel team coaches etc. then you do not know NCAA recruiting. And in the SEC, PAC12, Oklahoma and Texas it just means more! ;)

I know they are as mine committed a few weeks ago herself and she was kept in the loop through her travel coach (mainly from out of state schools) and her individual coach. Hers came down to a school she camped at for years, a school that kept in contact and a new school that checked all the boxes. Coaches got creative on letting you know they were interested or not interested. 6 out of the shoot when you technically haven’t seen them for almost two years is a red flag. 21-22 class is loaded in TN and they’ve missed on a lot of kids going out of state.

If she is one of ours then congratulations and if not good luck to her unless playing us!

Good luck and God bless her going forward. It seems our 2021 class had some misses in it. 2022 seems to be heading in the right direction again.

I believe they are too and moving in the right direction. And I believe they know they are missing out on state kids and will address it moving forward. Just the last few years (2019-2022) from Middle TN, Chattanooga, East TN area they have lost national players to Ole Miss, LSU, Miss State/JMU, UAB, TX AM, Alabama, Aub, Florida, USC, Clemson, Liberty to name a few. In just that group of players are slappers with speed & power, OF, pitchers, catchers and MI. Megan will bridge that gap on keeping the players here.

Yes Megan is already paying dividends it would seem.

The horrible defense the team plays is on the coaches.
IMO, defense is a learned skill through repetition. The hands of the coach hitting grounders to a second basemen for example, should be bleeding at the end of the week. By the time a second basemen gets to college, she should have already been fielding grounders for 10 years. So, unless a player is shielded by the runner or a pebble comes into play, a grounder should be a routine play.
Another thought I have is that it is mental. Lazy play is mental. You are right Vol67, lack of mental focus is on the coaches.
Proper mechanics, focused play, = successful execution, the result of good coaching right up the line including college.

A few years ago the UT coaches quit putting emphasis on defense saying it didn't matter that much

Watching the scrimmage which was hard with the shadows two or three things stood out to me. Left fielders had trouble today maybe due to wind and shadows but that level of play would kill us in the regular season. We have so little respect for our own slappers that we were defensing them with our outfielders two steps off the infield dirt. Is this little league? Hazelwood threw all nine innings for the one team did alright til she wore down and they were playing international rules at that point. Has Bender pitched yet in the fall? Pitching has been better than hitting in these games. One bright spot is very few walks by our pitchers. Parsons is the only one of ours slappers that is any real threat. Just a few thoughts.

I have watch if you can call it that all the streams this fall and i dont remember us wearing the fences out at all. May have missed a dinger or two but not sure. I have seen more righties than ever but nothing to make me think of dingers. I though the same for LF but was not sure what the problem was and has been some in past streams. Still not sure who the 2nd basemen were but Pirani was at short today going by her number and heard Josie was batting and not sure where she played. Dont remember Bender pitching !

I have missed a few innings but have not seen a homer. I appreciate the feed but you really have to love ladyvol softball to watch. Two of them the numbers were unreadable which you think you know who it is but it is hard to tell. Even from 100 feet up Turner has a nasty changeup!
