2021 recruiting rankings reality.

The last 3 guys we have gotten are high quality. I think they are 3 of our 4 highest rated recruits. Nonetheless, it is true that our current lofty ranking is a reflection of our volume, however we are meeting needs and building momentum.

People were wringing their hands over UT being "so low" in the last recruiting cycle because teams ahead of them had full classes. UT "finished strong"... or in reality just completed the class and added the points needed to pass classes that weren't better to start with.

A few are celebrating now but UT does have more commits than some of the schools behind them with more 4/5* players. That will change. But also Pruitt has had a decent history of getting on guys before their rankings improve. So some of those 9 guys will likely get a boost.

For instance, it would be a really odd thing to see one of the fastest kids in the country with a decent frame not get a 4th star on potential alone.

We will probably shed 2-3 kids that are low ranked now. Everyone is triggered by him bringing up a valid point.

Yes, you're right. Folks get emotional in both directions depending on WHEN things are discussed. OP is correct, the bigger recruiting picture is on the average rating of players. The reason is that a pretty hard limit for number of recruits is in place and getting your max early is not necessarily of value. Makes for good marketing and web traffic tho.

According to 247 we are ranked #5 (last night I checked). We have 9, 3STARS kids. I'm happy with the ranking but it could be better like Georgia's. We need to look at the average not the ranking.View attachment 274415

Question. Why would a talented QB commit to UGA?Kirby has demonstrated over and over he can't develop them.....Eason, Fields, Fromm...…...
Fromm is the only one that was there more than a year, so not sure how it’s an over and over thing. Doubt there was a way to develop all 3 at once.

Ikr. As long as we are bringing in a group of talented kids i dnt see a problem. Top 5 recruiting class is great for the fan base but if i learned anything from Botch is that coaching them up is far more important. CJP has shown us that he can develope players with the best of them and thats what excites me the most.
Exactly. Look at the success Clemson has had without a single top 5 recruiting class over the last decade taking the field.

And Fields went to OSU and played immediately. My point is Kirby doesn't know how to utilize his QB talent.

Just remember Joe Burrow was a 3* coming out of high school. It's not the ranking, but the development of the players that matter.

I just keep seeing people talk about recruiting and this is my take on it. I feel like people are looking at the wrong thing.
Maybe Pruitt is looking at the right thing and your looking at the wrong thing. We are doing very well, I am happy with this staff as I think most are. It's not like we are going to stand pat in recruiting, things are always changing. I will trust Pruitt and staff thank you. GBO!!!!

Ya, he was promised the starting job when he transferred there. I agree that UGA’s offense didn’t do much for QB’s, but let’s not pretend Fields would've put up OSU numbers in Georgia’s offense had he stayed. Fromm had success and fit Georgia’s offensive philosophy, which was hand the ball off and don’t turn it over. While it’s possible to succeed that way, it’s much easier to succeed with a more open offense.

Absolutely. Fields made the wrong decision to begin with

I'm not talking about Pruitt, clearly you didn't understand what I said. I was referring to the people in here talking about ranking number vs average point.

There are valid points on both sides. Stars do matter as reflected in the draft. However, I fully trust our coaching staff and their ability to evaluate/develop talent. There will be players that move up in the rankings, down, and stay the same. We'll also have players decommit and ones that we part ways with. It happens every year. As many of you have pointed out, it's early and fluid, but I'm thrilled to be where we are and the players we're in on. Exciting times are ahead.

I'll wait for the hay to be in the barn (scholarship papers signed) before I'm overly excited.

Quite a lot can happen between now and December. Just trying to be a realist about it all as we are dealing with high school kids at this time and they can be fickle.
