The thing Milton needs to probably work on based on what I have read is finding touch on short and intermediate passes, a strong arm is a plus but you have to be accurate and have touch in certain situations. If he gets that down, he could be the man. Like you said they all bring something to the table and I am glad we finally have coaches that can develop them. GBO!He's not wrong about velocity being important on throws outside the hashes or that Milton made some really amazing throws that neither Hooker nor Bailey have the physical ability to make.
I bet Bailey is next. I can never pick the winner of a QB showdown, but if I were Heupel I would absolutely favor the two quarterbacks who allow me to install the same scheme and know that they both could execute it if need be. That's Hooker and Milton. HB will never be a threat with his feet.
WIth Hooker and Milton, I have one scheme that both quarterbacks can execute should the need arise.
If I had to choose who I’d rather see in an opponents uniform lined up against us on a Saturday I’d much rather see Harrison Bailey than Brian Maurer. Maurer is a better athlete with a better arm, and a lot more upside. If it clicks for Maurer he will light it up wherever he goes. Bailey reminds me of a slightly heavier version of Justin Worley. At his best he will be a game manager that cannot run with a below average arm. I just don’t see why so many believe he is destined for stardom.I would agree Bailey will be gone next. Bailey nor his family are stupid. Heupel knew what Bailey was before he set foot on campus. He recruited over him and will continue to recruit over him. Bailey is not one of Heupel's recruits, he owes him nothing, not like the kids he has and will recruit. It's just part of the cruel world of college football. Do I think Heupel says things to Bailey trying to keep him around? Of course I do, Heupel knows Bailey can't beat him sitting on his own bench. Bailey will play somewhere else and if remains injury free will ball out somewhere in the P5 is my best guess, I wish him nothing but the best as well.
What is very funny about all that is a lot of these guys are great athletes. Huge bodies, fast and strong. Cam Newton comes to mind. And I think the same thing with Mahomes. They will not even come close to the status Peyton, Brady and Brees have achieved. These guys actually elevated the others play atound them... They are leaders of men. I would even throw Aaron Rodgers in there and maybe Ben. Montana, Elway, Young, Marino. And the list goes further. Warren Moon was a good one too, Jim Kelly. The thing most of these legendary guys have in common is they for the most oart stay in the pocket or roll away and get the ball to the guys that are paid to get hit. Just my opinion but I prefer these types over a Micheal Vick any dayAnd yet he wasn't all that much of a runner -- except for selling the bootleg, he was a master of that. If PM was on our team right now ... folks would say, Milton and Hooker are better runners than him.
Spring game doesnt matter now. But taking a dump on his O&W game performance is crazy talk. He out performed the other Qbs that day period. He played with the 1s, 2s and 3s. In live action. Not routes on air. He has also thrown the ball well in the SEC when he played. The notion he has a noodle arm is BS
I agree with your Worley comparison. He had a decent OL one year and very little in the way of skill players. Worley was a bad fit for Butch and time will tell if Bailey is a bad fit for this offense. If I had to choose who I’d rather see in an opponents uniform lined up against us on a Saturday I’d much rather see Harrison Bailey than Brian Maurer. No offense, but this is a lazy take. Bailey wasn’t recruited over. Heupel didn’t even know what he had here for QB’s. He brought in one QB from the transfer portal that he was familiar with due to recruiting. HH was brought in by Pruit. He needed a full QB room to foster competition. Now he is trying to see who can run the offense better. The 3 remaining QB’s all have different strengths and weaknesses. Let them battle it out and see who wins.I would agree Bailey will be gone next. Bailey nor his family are stupid. Heupel knew what Bailey was before he set foot on campus. If you can find a Safety who can cover like a corner... you've just struck gold. Could drop down to the nickel once he gets some seasoning.Still think Charles ends up in that mix, but the staff may just be getting him snaps at safety in the meantime. It’s a Dale Carter feeling. Dude played safety for us and Pro Bowled at corner the next level.
Have you had a chance to watch his Michigan games? He can throw with touch. People overreacted to a single report. Imagine that. The thing Milton needs to probably work on based on what I have read is finding touch on short and intermediate passes, a strong arm is a plus but you have to be accurate and have touch in certain situations.
