Carolina seems like it should be a natural rivalry, wonder why we never play.Day 186
On October 8, 1932, the Tennessee Volunteers notched Victory Number 186 with a 20-7 win over the North Carolina Tarheels.
The Vols finished as Southern Conference Champions and one of the leaders for the Vol offense was halfback Beattie "Big Chief" Feathers.
Feathers scored the Vols lone touchdown in Tennessee's 7-3 victory over Alabama on a rain-soaked Legion Field in Birmingham
Tennessee would begin play in the newly-formed Southeastern Conference the next year. Feathers would be named a consensus All-American and SEC Player of the Year in the inaugural season for the new conference.

What happened to PeayGolf? I hope he is okay? I’m glad that you took this up and continued it though...Day 184
Long time followers of my "vs The Maxims" threads will know that one of my all-time favorite Vols is fullback William Howard who once memorably lowered his head and ran over two Auburn linebackers AFTER having his helmet ripped off at the line of scrimmage.
In the midst of an otherwise disappointing 27-23 loss by the #8 ranked Vols to Mississippi State (UNIVERSITY, SIR! HOME OF THE ALLUSTROUS BULLDAWGS! GRRRR!)* on Sept. 13, 1986 in Knoxville, Howard rushed for 184 yards.
Howard would go on to set an NCAA record for most consecutive rushes with 16 against Ole Miss later that year.
Howard was drafted by the Tampa Bay Bucs and played two seasons.

I am with ya on that. I hope it’s just that he ran out of time, and like me, I am busy at work. I’ll try to help some. If I can.I don't know what's going on with @peaygolf. My suspicion is that he has gotten very busy with work as I seem to recall him making reference to that elsewhere.
I join you in hoping he has not suffered a "significant emotional event."
I REALLY don't want this job (doing the Maxims is quite enough as I'm already working at loading the old 13-round magazine with topics for 2021) but I'll keep going as long as I can. There are, I warn, changes coming in my life which may affect my time on this board as well.
I urge anyone with an interest to dive into the Vol archives on 2020 Football Media Guide and knock out a couple of these.
That being said ...
Missed you; glad you're back! Thanks for keeping it alive.............Had some unpleasant issues that needed to be dealt with. You guys are the best and I'll be back rolling soon.
