Some of you all think our defense just sucks. No talent. Etc...
Well, what does everyone else look like?
I'll show youScreenshot_20201209-232656_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20201209-232712_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20201209-232712_Chrome.jpg

The RULES have changed everything.
You wonder why kids can just catch quick slants all day long? Because of you hit them and they're not looking the defenders risk getting EJECTED.

-There is no such thing as being afraid to go across the middle anymore.
- DBs are being taught to play to WRs eyes and not play the ball. Easy back shoulders completions or pass interference all day long...

Which stat are we to look at there, honest question?

The 1st and 2nd screenshot.
The 3rd is just a duplicate of the 2nd.

Look at pass yards a game.
All across the board passing numbers are WAY up.

The top pass defense in 2020 would have been middle of the road stats wise in 2010.

My bad, thought I was looking at TO’s.

Edit: INT’s

In an attempt to endeavor to bring something to the original post, how many times this season have you said either out loud or to somebody else...”if we can’t come up with a play” we can’t win, talking D here?

So we are ranked 11th in the 14 team SEC conference. Not sure that is much to brag about.

Part of the increase is also due to teams not having the cupcake our of conference games.
Nobody talks about that, but it’s definitely skewed some stats and W/L records. You’d really have to look at yards/SEC game to get an accurate comparison.

Yeah. Absolutely.

No compound that with our offense NOT being able to take advantage of this new offensive friendly environment.
You get 2-6...

Dude...
LOOK at EVERYONE'S average from 10 years ago and compare it to today.

That was the point.

Teams are getting more opportunities against our defense because our offense can't keep the ball. Which makes the numbers even worse.

But the point was to show it is effecting EVERYONE. That's why I filtered it for the SEC. Bama, UGA, UF, LSU, are all giving up 60 more yards a game than they were 10 years ago. These are schools noted to produce NFL Dbs and Pass rushers.

I'm not disagreeing with you. But you started your post with people saying our defense isn't good. We went from 10th in the conference in 2010 to 11th in the conference now. People that are saying our defense sucks, have some evidence to back up that argument.

Looks like those 2010 numbers include out-of-conference games. Comparing SEC-only stats from those 2 years, interesting to see the difference in our TD:INT ratios and yards allowed per attempt.

Don't forget...there are no 'cupcake' stats included in 2020. There are no zero-touchdown UTEP, UMASS, UTC slaughter2020 -games to bump up the numbers. Could be part of the reason the numbers are higher in 2020.

So in other words, we have a coach stuck with a 2010 mindset in 2020....
