I can't remember, did Peyton start as a freshman? If yes, then it looks like a freshman can be starter and have an effect on our play. We may have more QBs than we need, we aren't going to get more scholarships, instead of four of five QBs we may be better off getting one or two more BIG O-linemen and/or Fast pass rushers-nothing like a good old fashion sack to take some of the steam out of a squad.

A lot of QB’s start as a freshman. Trask, Nix, Lawrence, etc. If they’re ready and they’re better than anyone else you have, play them. It’s not a bad thing.

These guys have much better talent around them. Freshman QBs are not the ideal.

I hope we are not in the Top 25. We have a lot to prove and need vastly better qb play from start of season to the end. Rankings will take care of itself if we just handle our business as we should.

UT will never get 9 wins with JG starting all games. Never.
But it’s very possible we get to 8 this year with JG doing the bulk of the successful QBing in all our wins this year. We don’t blow the coverage against BYU or the defense doesn’t give up 38 to GA State, that’s nine with JG

Or JG is able to sustain more drives that lead to scores..

Of course, not saying he’s Peyton. But saying nine wins is impossible with him is silly when we’re close to nine wins with him this year, and both he and the team around him should be better next year
That being said I’m not particularly positive about next year. If we’re ranked it’ll be after a bowl wins puts us at 9-4. I think people are giving enough mind to the fact we’re going to lose our best o lineman, our best TE, our two best WRs, our best pass rusher (and only above average one), our best linebacker, and our best defensive back.

This.. JG will be just fine next year. We should have more quality depth on defense also.

JG will be fine IF he goes to summer school and plays QB there as well.

He regresses every year. He starts back at square one every time a new season starts.

A lot of that imo is starting over with a new offensive coordinator literally every year, having Chaney back should help him a lot. The line should also be the strength of our offense for the first time..

I said with JG starting...

What is his career record as a starter?..

All of our wins came with JG either as the starter or as the QB who played the vast amount of minutes
I’m not sure, not great though. Hasn’t had a great team around him either

I can see a 9-4 season with one bad loss and one upset win. Ranked? Probably not unless they finish well and play well in the bowl.

Losing Jennings and Callaway will have more of an impact than the fanbase is willing to accept.

It will take time for new WRs to develop and gain some experience. To expect that offense to walk into Norman, by game two and just rollover OU is absurd.
