Of course the president should put the USA first. Most just have the intellect to know these agreements with others (like Japan, Korea, and NATO) benefit, not hurt us. You would have to be an idiot to only be able to look at it in terms of pure dollars and cents.

It’s why they frequently throw out words like “loony” or “radical” to discuss things that objectively make sense and are in widespread use throughout the world. Then make that case. Plenty of people try to, but as republicans find themselves on increasingly tenuous ground, they simply start throwing out terms like “socialism” to frighten the volfanjustin types. It’s no better than using the race card to get out of an argument you’re losing.

Effectively putting the US above any other country entails understanding and acknowledging both the short-term and long-term necessity of proper foreign relations. (Trump is grossly lacking)

If one side gets more out of it than the other, it's not really beneficial. Trump has tried to renegotiate deals to be more beneficial to the U.S. If making a deal means letting someone take advantage of us, that's not a good deal.

Try explaining your position better then. Should the U.S. continue with deals that have little to no benefit to them? Should they carry the load for organizations like NATO while other member nations skirt their responsibilities? People form alliances because they are beneficial, not just because.

Explain reparations then. In an ideal world, I could fully support things like free healthcare and free higher education. Unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world so you have to take into consideration how these things would be funded. But reparations? I see no logical argument for paying people money for something they never experienced.
