2020 Preseason Ranking (Poll)

How anyone can think we will be ranked is shocking

How? We ended the season with 6 straight wins. Only 2 other teams to do that is lsu and Clemson

I definitely think we could be ranked 22-25 to start, if only to hype up our matchup with OU as a top 25 matchup. But I want to finish the season at least 9-4 and firmly in the top 25.

NCAA/TV politics will have the Vols ranked to begin 2020 so that OU will have an early season ranked opponent to strengthen their schedule.
It's up to the Vols to capitalize on this and grab a big win in Norman.
TV contracts ensure the Vols are ranked to make that game as big as possible. They can charge more for commercials and make a lot more money. Non SEC/Big12 fans are more likely to tune in if the game is 2 top 25 teams.
I say the Vols are preseason ranked so that the push for this game can begin early.
