2020 draft reminding us what could've been

A lot of talent has left our state. Trevor Lawrence is probably the best example of all. The good news is our beautiful state which has been growing in population dramatically is now producing blue chip talent which bodes well for the future. The bad news is we need to give them a reason to stay. We have to just keep winning. Convince these kids they are not potentially harming their career choosing Knoxville. Then I think we can start getting back into that top tier of college football.

Although Trevor Lawrence was committed to Tennessee, he is from Georgia.

Tee Higgins was a huge miss but Butch messed that up.

Should be a great addition for my Bengals.

I thought JJ or Callaway had a really good chance of being late round 3 with all the WR's coming off the board. Thing is, outside of maybe the top 3-4 WR's, the pool is deep this year. Though Bituli had a lower grade, looking at the dude's resume, I thought he's got the talent to be a late round 3. Think these three will come off the board pretty soon. Could see someone like Pitt going for JJ, in the mold of a Hines Ward type player. Giants need another WR...think Callaway will be a steal in late rounds if he slides that far.

By my count 4 kids from the state of Tennessee were taken in the first 3 rounds. Tee Higgins, Van Jefferson, Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Jacob Phillips. Did I miss any?

None of these kids played in Knoxville thanks to Butch. 😥😡🤬
I think the lesson learned about Butch is that you can recruit the #1 class, but if you can't coach them it doesn't really matter. Once recruits see it, they go elsewhere. Thank God we got rid of him... All talk NO Walk.

Trevor was born in Johnson City, Tennessee & grew up a Tennessee Vol fan even after he & his family moved to North Georgia. He attended games at UT and was not recruited by the Vols as he did not " fit their system " as did so many others who slipped through the fingers of the last few coaches !!! Maybe now we have a coach who utilizes the talent he brings in & is able to recruit talented players who want to be here !!! I like Pruitt, but am now cautious in my excitement until we vie on a regular basis for conference championships & are mentioned in most years as national champion contenders !!! GO VOLS !!!

He was recruited by Jones and committed to us in either his first or second year of high school.

If he had committed we would have heard of it. If he had DECOMMITTED, the servers would still be ash.

Lawrence was more interested in Tennessee than Butch was of him.

He preferred Emory Jones over Lawrence.

The interest was there but stupidity of one HC cost us an NFL QB.

He was never committed. Not at any point. We whiffed on Fields and Jones and settled for Penix and Martinez. And then ended up with Shrout.

The QB many thought of as the most sure thing since Andrew Luck. That system though. Stick to the system . Dumbass.
