How many times did this happen, and how is it JG's Fault?!?!? Just asking??

It's not but don't try to tell the haters that.

If JG is starting, we are screwed.
Different day, same old lame statement. You and your ilk are in the vast minority on the assessment of our QB's ability. In fact, can someone put up a simple Yes/No type survey up, just to build some statistical data to see if my hypothesis is correct? I don't have the time at work, nor do I have the hands on experience to do it correctly at this time on the site.

IMO, and this is strictly from that clip and not seeing the entire field, it appears he should have read the safety coming up on his left and realized a blitz was coming from the LBer. That sack is actually one I'd blame on JG more than the Oline, again based only on the clip.

It is tough for an Olineman to see all of the defensive movement once in their stance. Thus JG has to read this movement and be aware a blitz is coming and make adjustments accordingly.

With all that said the O line did look lost many times this season and there could be multiple causes for that besides lack of effort or ability.

Edit...I just rewatched that clip...JG is terribly at fault there and I would hope in the film room he was taken to task for his obvious laser focus on his right side pre-snap. It is also apparent that he is throwing that way and doesnt bother to even acknowledge there are players anywhere on the filed except to his right.

This stuff can be coached out of him but he can learn simple stuff like this by watching film himself.
THANK YOU!!!!!!

The guy posted this clip thinking it was proof that JG was just not being protected, when in reality he didn't protect himself by changing the protection or saying "boggey left, watch the Mike!" Why didn't he?? BECAUSE HE DIDN'T THINK TO!! How can we know this??? Because the MLB put him on his butt, and never saw it coming!

So many people on here just watch football and NEVER learn to actually understand it.

It's been obvious since last year, he's just not a good QB. He's Nathan Petetman-esque..

And for people to actually want him in there is insanity!!

He was a part of that as well. You all act like he’s adequately sliding protection or reading blitz’s. He isn’t, as a 3rd year player.

And you think that if they had better he wouldn't be playing ? But i don't think they could do anything to make you happy except resign.

Next year will be another hard year. Might as well look towards the future and give the young guys the reins. We know what JG gives us. Mediocrity.
If you believe this you lack any fundamental understanding of football, JG gave everything he could with a paper Oline. Next year he should have more room to breathe and will thrive.

All the agenda guys and people who just repeat what others say came out for this thread I see.

Some of you need to go to football academy. 🙃

Thanks coach. Maybe you should try playing the position with defensive linemen and linebackers breathing down your throat before you can hand the ball to a running back or set up for a short pass before being drilled in the back by unblocked defensive players. Despite all that, he still was had very good stats and QB ratings.

We’re in a 5 wide set with no RB to pick up the blitz. JG had zero time to even release the ball. Hardly his fault

I always love the equating of effort and performance. Trying hard and sucking is an everyone gets a trophy mentality.

He had plenty of time to look left and make an adjustments.

Not dogging him but he is the one guy who can easily view all movement of the entire defense. When he doesn't do that and focuses on the guy he's going to throw it to, he is going to miss simple reads like this.

All that said, this can be coached up and corrected. IMO he should be able to do it himself if he is focused on improving and the defense he will be facing that week. If he isn't then the coaches absolutely must help him fix it. If one of those things don't happen he will continue to get creamed while never having a clue a blitz is on the way.

I agree somewhat but he can be coached up. That clip was a simple, look to the left and see the safety creep, change protection, complete the pass for a big play.

JG is a tough competitor and with proper coaching can become pretty dang good. Now maybe he needs very tough coaching to get through to him or maybe he needs and arm around his shoulder explaining to him how that play could have been a big one, but someone on the staff needs to figure out what he will respond to and provide that for him.

We saw what JG could do when he had adequate blocking vs Auburn. No one’s claiming he’s a Heisman contender, just not the sole culprit of our offensive woes.

Never said he was the sole culprit. Although, many of his defenders willfully toss the entirety of his sacks on the o-line. It’s a perfect storm of failure.

Assuming we get Wright (we all hope he signs with us), starting 2 true FR on the OL is a risky proposition. But honestly, it wouldnt surprise me if that happens.
And even at 2 freshmen Ill take it cause at least those two will have the size to stand a chance. I would expect some freshmen coverage mistakes but I we hope we have the luxury of starting Wright.

Guarantano's got spunk. Unlike Lou Grant, I like spunk.
But the sooner Shrout (it out loud) reaches his potential, the better.

If you can’t block anybody, you can’t execute on offense, period. JG was only in his second year of significant playing time so I give him some latitude on his check downs. Should be better next year if he gets more protection. And as I said earlier, there’s really no one behind him that’s better right now
