first time, long time........

another year of depending on young depth, but game 1 offensive starters look good on paper. just with our WR's alone, the offense should make strides.

Running the ball is the main goal but a young OL will need the speed / skill guys to carry the load in the open field for a while before they are ready to run block for 30 times per game during the SEC schedule; expect a lot of quick outs to Ty Chandler / Eric Gray to pull in defense. once the 2nd level throws open up, the offense will be able to be balanced and play possession football, without an early dominate running game.......

If Kennedy stays healthy at Center, that allows last years OL returners and this years OL recruits to fill only 2 OL positions. (unless Trey Smith is unable to return). thats a lot of OL talent to fill 2 positions.

WR 1 - Callaway
WR 2 - Jennings
WR 3 - Palmer

LT - T. Smith (?)
LG - J. Johnson
Center - B. Kennedy
RG - D. Wright
RT - W. Morris

TE - DWA
QB - J. Guarantano
RB - Ty Chandler

If JG is starting, we are screwed.
Not with proper coaching.

Of course that is assuming he will actually have an OC by spring practice.

IMO, if JG will learn to not "squeeze" the ball so much he can become a very effective leader of the offense. He doesn't seem to trust his receivers to be where they are supposed to be and sometimes wants them.to be open before he commits to the throw. Understandable but he needs a little bit of coaching up by Tyler Bray, a young man not afraid to throw it wherever and whenever he saw fit.

I like JG and still believe he can be developed to the point that allows the offense to be productive and score points. But it honestly depends on the coaching

He has reached his ceiling........5-6 win max with him at the helm

He has only played 2 seasons and has reached his ceiling? Guess he should just not practice anymore. The only game he had decent time to throw, he absolutely shredded Auburn. Let’s see how he looks next year befor before we make silly assumptions.

Come on .... lets get Richmond in there... surely he must be working as hard as JG is, gonna get good!
almost.......if Trey Smith is healthy, then Wanya beats out Richmond. with Kennedy at Center, maybe Richmond can play guard. if Smith does not return, then Richmond starts, of course.

Looks about like last year.

You can most likely take Trey Smith off.

Looks like next year will be another "wait till next year" season.

I hope you jest if you are comparing Richmond to JG. One is the worst O-lineman to ever start a game for the Vols, let alone several seasons of starts to prove how consistently terrible he is, while the other has proven to be at worst an average QB who might be the toughest player in the NCAA right now.

Damn, I'm surprised at everyone giving up on JG. Seemed to me like he was one of the best players last season and one of the least of our many problems. Obviously flawed, but had the worst OL in the SEC with a tough schedule.

There's a large very percentage of people here who think if the defense gives up 47 points, it must be the Quarterback's fault.

Its hilarious isnt it? I mean the guy is going on his 3rd HC, 4th OC in his shirt time at UT. Also, regardless of what the stats say, according to some he just isnt that good. With JG at the helm we handidly defeated a good Auburn and UK team. Does he get much credit? Nah. His detractors say that both teams werent very good.

JG has not played behind even what would be considered a mediocre OL since becoming the starter. There was 2 games this past season where the OL actually played decent. Auburn and Kentucky. We won both and JG looked good in both games. Why some think he cannot improve is beyond laughable.

It absolutely does involve him!

3 and outs on offense are death for your team's defense if it has no depth...

Yes, he does share some blame....
Maurer or Shrout need to emerge for the good of this program trying to rise back up!!

Most rational people should expect next year to be rough as well.
Like ive said before, most good coaches see a tremendous improvement in year 2. That may not necessarily translate to alot of wins next year but if the team still looks like an unorganized mess, we are gonna have issues.

I'm not as down on JG as much as some people but he does need to improve his awareness and quickness but most if not all of the team needs to improve in certain areas.

Give it a rest. Dude played well all things considered. Had a couple ugly games but you do better getting knocked on your ass literally every passing play.
He was a part of that as well. You all act like he’s adequately sliding protection or reading blitz’s. He isn’t, as a 3rd year player.
