2019/2020 Coaching and AD Search Thread

Fulmer has actually been a good AD other than this Pruitt hire. Unfortunately football outweighs all. Its a terrible mistake.

No!! Its not a terrible mistake. Look...I get it, CJP may have a lot to learn about being a head coach, but Coach Fulmer knows it takes the Jimmy's and the Joe's to play in the SEC. When CJP took over, we had no players. Not the caliber of players that Tennesssee has had in the past. We needed recruiters to get this program rolling again, so Coach Fulmer hired a known top recruiter and he in turn, hired more top recruiters. This strategy will pay off. Look at some of these freshmen studs we have playing. HT is going to be a beast. Hopefully CJP lasts long enough to get more of these kind of recruits. Maybe, by the time he has 3 or 4 years of these kind of players, he will have learned to be a better head coach, if not then hire a great known head coach with a loaded team. The great coaches will recognize a team loaded with studs. I'm sure this has all been stated before, and it's just my opinion. GBO!!

The problem is at the top. Above Pruitt above Fulmer, and even above Cheek/Davenport/whoever the hell it is now. They keep hiring losers to run the university and it trickles down. The UT Board of Trustees are ineffective and incompetent. The governor needs to shake it up. And tell the Haslams to get out of the way
Whoever is the next coach, and whenever that happens, UT needs to hire a proven successful coach, not feeling the coach needs to have SEC roots. I would rather have a successful coach even from smaller school than have Pruitt who blames the players for everything. He does not know what he's doing even though Fulmer spent big $ hiring people to surround Pruitt in an effort to justify the hire.

A hug profile job will bring the #victimsofHughFreeze out of the woodworks. Lot of creepy vibes out there on how he interacted with HS school girls
Countdown hits zero as soon as that MOU is signed. ESPN buys a house on the campus.

People like you, who wanted to fire a NC winning coach, are the reason we are in this mess today.

The last thing we need to do is listen to you again.

Nope. It's people like you who cling to the memories of the past instead of the actual reality that caused this. Fulmer was done in 2005. He talked Cutcliffe into coming back in 2006 and 07 to try and inject some life into the corpse. But it didn't work. Cut left, recruiting was a mess and he tanked again in 2008. Fulmer was the 5th best coach in the SEC East by 2008. Not to mention the guys in the West he was behind. But because we didn't fire him in 2005, we had to extend him shortly after. His 8 win automatic raise contract with the big buyout was a big set back too. So Hamilton tried to save money and turned down Gary Patterson to save with Lane.

Gave Monte Kiffin a mil a year as DC way before that was a thing. One can quarrel with a lot of different details in that hire...MONEY isn’t one of them.

Lol well first of all, I dont believe the administration listens to the poster.

2nd, Fulmer got the ax cause the Haslams wanted him gone and had already lined up Lane.

3rd, Fulmer should have stepped down after that 2005 season. It was time but he held on to long and allowed the outside powers to have a louder say.
