I get a kick out of many of you professing that we are the most passionate and best fans in college football but then start a thread about those within the fan base who cling to whatever they can after a tough decade to fuel that passion. Why do we have to go after people that wear shirts with slogans? Who cares? Its still orange and thats all that should matter. Let each person root for who or what they want. Theres nothing wrong with supporting a coach with a shirt that has his name on it. Im sure if they sold jerseys with players names on them people would buy those and Id venture to say they wouldnt put as much effort into the success of the program as the coach will nor will they be there as long...hopefully.
I think it's a function of everybody desperately seeking the next Saban. We have witnessed the best college football coach ever, and it's natural to think that the best way to compete is to try to install the next one. Sadly they don't come around that often.
