2018 Schedule - I dare

How do the wildcats make it a game for 3 quarters but we win 50-10? Dang

20-10 Vols going to 4th. Vol D gets 2 pick 6's, Vol O chips in 2 on long clock eating drives and just to show them last year was a 30 year anomaly Vols kick a 64 yard FG as time expires! How does that work for ya? :)

C’mon man.

I don’t remember anyone on this board ever discussing the director of player personnel on someone’s staff.

Everyone can nitpick all they want, but it’s a simple point.

He’s never been on the coaching staff (and director of player personnel doesn’t count) where he had to account for a distinct talent disadvantage when compared to his opposition.

Not saying he can’t. Not saying he won’t. And more importantly, I’m not saying he won’t be able to recruit so that he doesn’t have to deal with that problem in future years.

All I am saying is that he never has been in that situation and he will be in 2018. Knowing that, it is something I would consider with regard to expectations in 2018

While you’re right for college, he was a HS coach too. I’m pretty sure high school is pretty different when it comes to talent. Additionally, if you like to use that then what about Kirby Smart? He had little experience with talent gaps and seems to be doing alright for now. Dan Mullen wasn’t a coordinator at lower tier schools.

That’s 51-10 man cmon give the man credit. He said 50-10

Sept. 1 vs. West Virginia (Charlotte, N.C.)

W 16 -10 Defense shines early, offense not so much.

Sept. 8 ETSU

W 48 - 12 Defense shows up again, weak ETSU
defense makes Ut offense look good.

Sept. 15 UTEP

W 38 - 22 Pruitt put subs in too soon.

Sept. 22 Florida

W 19 - 10 Pride on both struggling teams.

Sept. 29 at Georgia

L 38 - 16 Defense on the field too often.

Oct. 13 at Auburn

L 28 -14 Offense continues to lag behind defense
development.

Oct. 20 Alabama

W 19 -10 A shocking event. Offensive Line begins to assert itself. Backs and receivers show up in the 4th quarter.

Oct. 27 at South Carolina

W 46-26 Offense primed and confident. Pruitt inserts subs again too soon.

Nov. 3 Charlotte

W 49 - 10 Subs play a significant amount of time.

Nov. 10 Kentucky

W 50 - 10 Order of universe returns to form. But for three quarters Wildcats make it a game. Pruitt doesn’t sub this time.

Nov. 17 Missouri

W 54 - 26 Dooley hate is strong. Pruitt understands this and lets the beasts loose.

Nov. 24 at Vanderbilt

W 30 - 20 Revenge game, lots of penalties, lots of highlight plays. This is going to be a heck of a game fueled by pride, intra-state hatred, and lots of Vols fury. There will be bigger names in games in 2018 but this one has highlight championship all over it.

I like how Kentucky is a game for three quarters, but we win by 40. That’s a beast of a 4th quarter!

We are going to beat the reigning national champs whose Freshman won the game for them and are all coming back? I like to think of myself as an optimist but, damn.

We lose the games that most predict that we will lose. Alabama West Virginia Florida UGA and Auburn. Florida should be a win but as usual we will either be intimidated by them or they will out. Coach us

Just stop

If we beat Alabama it would be divine intervention. Also if we beat them we would lose to South Carolina the next week.

Ridiculous

I'll just give one word of warning.

Pruitt, since coaching in college, has worked at Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State.

Not once in his college coaching career has he had to try to hide his unit's or team's deficiencies.

He didn't even have to worry about injuries. That's how loaded the rosters were on the defensive side of the ball where he happened to be.

Just keep that in mind

This ^

What about the experience of coaching high school, where you can have a huge change in team make up in one year. He has had to go from having a 300 pound 3 technique to a 185 pounder the next season. I think the flexibility in scheme needed to succeed in highschool coaching is going to be a valuable asset for Coach Pruitt.

Nope, try again. He coached at Hoover High, perennially one of the best high school teams in the nation. Probably had a bigger talent advantage there over his opponents than any other job he's had.

Our team is not as talented as any you mention, although we aren't that far off from Georgia.

But the cupboard is not bare at all. He has enough to work with on D. I expect an immediate huge improvement on D, particularly run D.

I am not sure how much Pruitt will help our struggling offense, and I am not 100% sold on Helton. But we will see.

Say what you want, our offense was decent when Dormady was healthy. And no, he's not coming back but JG is now experienced and will IMO be much improved next year.

Lol. Further from UGA in talent than you realize. Last 4 classes including this one (2018) UT averages #12 in recruiting while UGA average class is #4. UGA over the last four classes signed 14 five stars, UT got a whopping 2.

I still think 6-6 and a bowl will take a minor miracle.
Call me the usual negavol but I won't be calling for Pruitt’s head next season if he only manages 4 or 5 wins.

Agree Pruitt had elite talent at FSU and Bama, but he had to coach around some serious deficiencies in Georgia's secondary and DL in 2014 and 2015. He had mixed results. The defense got exposed in the South Carolina and Florida games in 2014, and again against Bama, Tennessee and Florida in 2015.

I’ll have whatever he’s having. But we are not beating Bama, USCe will be very good next year, and Missouri is still very winnable but has Lock coming back. (Even tho Dooley will be their OC). You have your expectations too high. We are completely changing schemes on both sides of the ball and lose some good players. Year 1 is gonna be full of growing pains

I’m calling 8-4 maybe 7-5 if we lose a game we were supposed to win....

What about winning games we aren't "suppose" to win?

Where do you put WV? An early betting line says they are suppose to beat us by 8+. I haven't seen any other "way too early betting lines" to consider.

I'm on board except for the Bama Florida games. I still think bama is a loss and florida will be a toss up. Still tho, an 8 win season wouldn't be too shabby for the first year head coach.

No. I can't handle another freaking loss to Bama. I just can't. There's gotta be some hope out there somewhere that we beat the Tide. I'm sick of it

You gotta figure CJP knows gump ball inside and out. That should help us. Get hot early and gain some momentum. It's a home game on the third Saturday. I expect Neyland to be rocking.

I like our chances.

2018. Year of the Vol.

You're forgetting the Saban rule. Protégés of Saban are unable to beat him. Unless you're saying Saban will be sick or in the NFL, then I could see it

Saban may complete his career without a loss to a former assistant. But maybe not. May not happen this year but hopefully Pruitt will be breaking that string before long.

I will bet $25,000 WVU scores more than 10 points. Please take the bet

No way Jose

One would be a fool to take that bet

(Don't call me racist, ok?)

UT may win the game but will need at least 25 points to prevail, is my guess.

If this is not the result of not sleeping for 48 hours and smoking a half pound of pot, or something like that, I'm not surprised; however, this post will be coming up, over and over again this season as an example of a fanboy's brain on drugs. Support our team-Yes!!! Demonstrate to the world your lack of brain power-better kept to yourself.:hi:
