2018 Schedule - I dare

OP is probably part of the fan group that will start making threads this time next year asking if Pruitt "can get it done" or "is the guy" if he finishes with a 6-6 or 7-6 type year.

.....all because he didn't go 10-2.

We were 0-8 in conference and had the worst record in program history last year. Any game above .500 in 2018 and Pruitt exceeded expectations, IMO.

And why that record? Let's face it, for all practical purposes, the team quit. If you couldn't see it in their play, you couldn't miss it in their body language on the sidelines. They weren't playing to win, they were very often just playing to survive.

I am betting by the time next season begin, Pruitt and company will reinvigorate those willing to buy in, and find opportunities elsewhere for many of the rest. Your expectations may be above .500, but I don't think it is for Pruitt. And I think he is going to light a fire in these guy's bellies.

However, if that can happen, we really need to have an incident free off season. 8 months? Whew!

Because this team needs an entire culture change. That takes time. Our players have not been properly coached up at all. That takes time.

Of course Pruitt expects much better than .500, he wouldnt be a good coach if he didnt. However, look at all the JUCO guys he is targeting. CJP knows this roster isnt set up to be successful in the SEC.

I think anyone expecting more than 6-7 wins is expecting too much imo.

Early predictions has WV ranked #10 in the country to start the season. It would be great to start the season with a win against a top 10 team. If only it could happen.

Who has them ranked 10? Some don’t have them ranked in the top 25 at all.

Leave OP alone. Maybe this does happen. It’s college football. Anything can happen.

It’s not the weekend yet. You probably have to work tomorrow. Put the bottle down.

No way do we beat bama. On the other side I expect to play Florida and Georgia tough and splitting those games. Georgia is losing a lot and people aren’t looking into that. I’m looking for 7 wins with the possibility of 8 in a bowl. That would be a great turn around.

I'll just give one word of warning.

Pruitt, since coaching in college, has worked at Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State.

Not once in his college coaching career has he had to try to hide his unit's or team's deficiencies.

He didn't even have to worry about injuries. That's how loaded the rosters were on the defensive side of the ball where he happened to be.

Just keep that in mind

Year 1 at Bama was not a loaded team.

Alabama lost 3 starting linebackers this season to injury. I’d say that’s a dang good job of coaching.

OP's prediction is consistent with my best case ceiling. - Win one of the three "guaranteed losses", win all of the rest. The key to the season is how well prepared they are for WVU. And although it is possible to steal a win against one of the three, it is also at least as likely for a young, developing team to lose one that they shouldn't. But from what Pruitt has said, he expects to be able to win every game this team goes into.

Of course he does. He’d be a sorry coach if he didn’t.

I posted a 9-3 prediction of next season as well. I didn't get any likes but I did get 1 guy that asked me how many accounts D4H had. I'm very optimistic hopeful really, in Coach Pruitt. I think this guy is realistic, tough, and grounded. I think what ever team he fields in sept, whether he and the team decide to allow Hurd to return, offensive schemes defensive schemes, it'll be fun to watch and we'll beat teams no one sees comin.

We are playing 3 top 5 teams in a row and that’s not counting Florida and South Carolina. Unbelievable.

The one benefit we have during this stretch is a bye between at UGA and at Auburn. That 3 game stretch will be tough, but the bye helps. I think we can beat Auburn. I know they're going to be loaded, but they're also prone to having disappointing seasons when expectations are high.

It'll be interesting to see how Malzahn handles the pressure of that fanbase and new contract if they lose a couple games early as well.

Losses to Alabama,Georgia but with adequate QB play the Vols can take 2 of 4 from Auburn,Florida,S.Carolina and Missouri. I believe 8-4 is a reasonable projection because there is talent on the current roster and we are going to receive immediate help with 2018 recruiting.

Will our patchwork O-line stay healthy? If so, will JG benefit? Can we replace JK? Can Jennings get back? What's the secondary look like with no Gaulden? We're some where between 5-7 and 8-4. Really need to win game 1 before we sign too deep a whole in Oct. I think we lose Bama, Ga, and 2 of 4 between(FL, USCe, Auburn, WVU).

7-5 would be a stellar job, actually.8-4 if we're lucky.

7-5 stellar job?

To beat the likes of Vandy, Ky, SC, Mizzu, West Va. and the other scrubs on our schedule is 8 wins. Stellar would include more wins than 8.

We have 4 teams on our schedule. Gumps, chumps, gaters and gump's brother that's where our gump will earn his money.
