2018 Midterm Election Thread

Everybody there is racist, misogynist, and chauvinistic. It must be hard for them to choose between a black and a woman. Tough decision.
Mississippi has the lowest % of high school graduates of any state in the country. Less than 80% of people in the state of Mississippi have a high school diploma or an equivalency thereof. Many of them probably can't even read the freaking ballot.

I bet the 20% voted for the guy losing by double digits.

Give it time. The numbers are still coming in.
With 99% now reporting, the Hyde-Smith lead is about 66,500 votes.

Cindy Hyde-Smith (Republican) 469,713 - 53.8%
Mike Espy (Democrat) 403,280 - 46.2%

As it stands, this is the closest Senate general election in Mississippi in 30 years. Espy has done better in the suburbs than most Democrats usually do in Mississippi and the black voter turnout has been high. However, there are just too many white rural voters in this state for there to be anything close to an upset. Still, this is a sign that Hyde-Smith is not a good candidate at all. Trump has a 60% approval rating in Mississippi and she is performing well below that.

Edit: It's gotten even closer with 99% now reporting. A win is a win... but Hyde-Smith obviously has some issues. No way a Senate race in Mississippi should be within 8 points.

There’s 800k black voters in MS. If they voted for Espy 100% it’s not even a 50% turnout. The number of white people voting is pathetically low. If 60% of black voters turned out he would have crushed her. A black candidate should do better in a nearly 40% black state. The voters just don’t care.

That is true. That is an incredibly low voter turnout state across the board. That has to be the worst state in every major category. It just does.

Congratulations to Mississippi for continuing to retain last place in education, healthcare and job creation for 3 decades running!

LOL, still 53 votes in the Senate now matter how you try to spin it

So the civil rights act was to help out lazy dead ass n*****s? Is that what you're saying? Wow....in 2018 there are still full blown racist...I wonder how you feel about the athletes of color that attend UT....
Need to see a racist? Look in a mirror if you can even cast a reflection. My guess is that you suck off the government similar to everyone's favorite vampire. Or probably more like Stormy.

The woman just won't give up....

paragraph 18 of her lawsuit, in which she decries "cuts to early voting." Abrams alleges the state curtailed the duration of early voting in Georgia, which made it more difficult for people. But Abrams actually co-sponsored that legislation.
