2018 Midterm Election Thread

Might as well just turn their Congressional offices into an AirBnB.

There are quite a few congress people that sleep in their offices. Apparently not being able to afford to keep two homes is a thing. I read that they either get roommates or sleep in the office. Hey whatever they got to do I guess.

I wonder if this means he's sending in the hot tub salesman (Whitaker) or the dotard (Giuliani)?

It seems like BS, that's what I'm saying. Intentional foot-dragging, intentional incompetence. Not suggesting fabricated votes.

Election night comes and goes, Nelson more or less concedes (though not explicitly), and everyone seems prepared to move on, then 2 days after the election highly populated, heavily Dem counties say they have "an unknown" number of ballots left to count. How in the hell does that happen? Do they at least have a reason why 78k+ ballots weren't counted on election night, or really early Wednesday morning? Because they aren't really saying anything at the moment.

Again, I share your frustration with them being inefficient.

But if we are within the period of time for counting of votes, and if the votes are linked to a registered voter and was recorded at a time and place where votes were allowed to be cast, count them.

But don't convert general boobery in running the show down there to mean people are intentionally altering votes or the results. There is just no basis for that claim. The near-hysterical claims of Scott and Trump about this are unnerving, and seemed designed to set the stage for an argument that, if the outcome swings the other way, even legitimately, then they won't accept it.

How do you know when the were cast?

But why is the "general boobery" that runs the show down there allowed to continue? Brenda Snipes in particular has been involved in some election shenanigans before, innocently or not. She destroyed ballots that were the subject of a lawsuit against her office just a couple years ago, during the 2016 election. At the very least, isn't she unfit to be running the elections there?

It is just unbelievable to me that after a national election sideshow that will be remembered for decades and decades occurred, you have something extremely similar happening again, involving the exact same state and the exact same counties/precincts. When incompetence rises to this kind of level, it makes you wonder if it is intentional.

If the "discovered" votes are legit, then yes, count them, but how did they become found in the first place? I agree that Scott and Trump have no evidence to allege that "rampant fraud" occurred, but they do have a right to start asking some really pointed questions and getting quick answers.

What a terrible, misleading headline.

Burnadette Norris-Weeks, a lawyer for Snipes and Broward County, said the statement was “blown out of proportion” and was in response to a question, rather than a statement of definite voter fraud in the county.

“This wasn’t a suggestion there was rampant voter fraud in Broward County,” Norris-Weeks told The Daily Signal in a phone interview. She added that suggested improvements were “no admission of anything.”

Also, the article is from 2017.

Honest question. If it is electronic, what is the hold up?

I don't know. It is not clear to me whether the votes are tallied at the precinct and then brought to HQ, or what. The mail in absentees of servicemen and women is not electronic, but have their own safeguards and its just a matter of timing.

What you have to undersxtand is that this is about whether a manual recount is automatically triggered statewide. If it is within a half a point, that happens. It is very close to that. And what is happening is that these ones that are trickling in could tip it to a recount, which Scott does not want because he might lose.

What we have with Scott and Trump is this hysterical knee jerk reaction that just because there are some of these left to count that it MUST mean someone is up to something. It doesn't. And in actuality they know that. But they want to be able to stomp their feet in consternation and throw out false claims of fraud in case it goes in the direction of a manual recount.

You are suggesting they were fabricated after the fact?

Prove it.

It should not be heard to see if the vote was real. Link it to a registered voter. If you think its made up, go talk to some and see if they voted.

Again, this should not be that complicated. There is no basis in fact, literally none, to make the accusation that there is fraud. Its just a mantra the Republicans like to invoke to animate their supporters. So either find a factual basis for the claim, or go find something else to bit4h about.

Prove they weren't.

Just read this - the quote below shows she's building her narrative

"There are many little ways in which our electoral system isn't even designed (nor prepared) for working-class people to lead," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Thursday, "This is one of them (don't worry btw - we're working it out!)."

Please, can't believe people buy into this BS.

$174K a year...

Stay in a freakin week by week until you get settled.

My guess is the Dems looked at the roles and saw who didn't vote and retroactively voted for them. That's why there's a delay. That takes time.

Prove they weren't.

The votes at precincts would record who voted and when.

Trump and Scott need to take a chill pill.
