With 8 games in the books for season 2018 and another 4-8 season looking likely, what do you see as the biggest differences in this season vs last season. As much as it pains me to say this, I see very little difference. I thought coaching would have to be better, but players still making the same mistakes game after game. Record probably not gonna improve. Some fans seeing players being under utilized. Can’t make a play when needed. These are the same things we saw under Jones and staff. Spin it any way you want but things don’t look much different to me.

i see improvement, but other teams have improved as well. i see us competing more. we're not getting blown out save the Bama game. teams drive for scores, but recruiting can and will help that. we are slow at very important positions and it shows often. We are weak upfront and it reared its ugly head last night. Fortunately the remaining teams on our schedule are not deep defensively either. stack the box vs ky and they're in trouble. vandy might be weaker than us upfront and mizzou is weak vs the pass.

I don't think 4-8 is our likely finish.

In the best of all worlds, we could end up 7-5, and on our way to a bowl game. I do not think the 7-5 is likely. 6-6 and a bowl is pretty hopeful, and yet I still have that hope. I think our floor, at this point, is 5-7.

The results are very similar to last season, agreed. And yet, the fire in the bellies of some of our players is new. If a solid core of the team can hold that fire right through to the end of the season, it can be a seed from which to grow a new team character for next year and beyond. A more stubborn character, more determined. Driven, even.

That's a big part of CJP's leadership challenge in the final months of 2018: to nurture and grow that. And to make them all better football players in technique and physicality, as well.

Go Vols!

We will win 1 against the remaining 3 sec games and beat Charlotte. Watching the highlights from last night and it was clear that was a fumble on the goal line.

We had three 26 pt losses before Bama

That’s blown out.

Kentucky will beat us.

Mizzou will probably blow us out badly.

Vandy....let’s hope for that one.

I do feel better about this team, than in 2017, however. We’re tougher, that’s for sure.

There is a fight to this team, they have an attitude, a swagger. In the past they would have folded up and now they fight or they don't get to play. Pruitt is in charge and his image is already imprinted on this team. That recent cigar smoking sack of monkey crap CBJ would have allowed the mediocrity to continue and players to quit.

This time last year, the team had quit...or if not quit at start of game, when they got hit in the mouth, didn't respond. Coaches have coached up many position groups. I really do like what they're doing with this team...most all pundits have noted the effort and improvement. Also, top to bottom, SEC E is stronger this year...no SEC cupcakes at the back end of the schedule, but moral victories just don't feel that comforting. I feel alot better this year than last, and next year w/ another off season of same S/C coach, team being under Pruitt longer, upgrade in talent, and easier schedule... all line up for a better 2019.

This team certainly plays with more physicality than last year. Some of these kids are playing angry and knocking some heads out there, I’ve really missed that.

The key to the season is the Kentucky game. I like the fact that they will likely be coming off an emotional loss to Georgia... If we can get that one , then we likely ride that wave to 7-5. If not, then 6-6 is still possible but it will be a grind

I see much improvement on this team. Last years team very easily could have finished 3-9. I think we got extremely lucky vs Ga. Tech. And if the Umass QB doesn’t get hurt we may lose to them too. I also see a team, for the most part, that plays hard.

I think KY has the propensity to play up or down to their competition...and they've put their model on film, so teams are scheming their run-heavy offense different than UF early in the year. They obviously won yesterday, so it counts...but it was gift-wrapped by Miz. IF we keep improving, we have the ability to run the table and finish 4-4 in SEC...but we've also got just as much potential to not win any of them. It would be great for our team if they can win at least two of the final 3 SEC games and get to a bowl.

Two biggest differences are:

1. Because Pruitt isn't Butch, he hasn't worn-out his welcome and we are still able to be optimistic and hopeful that we are moving in the right direction.
2. Injuries -- 2017 was the second season in a row in which we had huge #s of injuries. Pruitt seems to have slowed that down this season.

Nega Vols will be negative. We have improved on many levels.

Well, I got most of the replies I expected. Most see improvement in this year and I thought so too. Then I remember getting blown out by Fl, Ga, and Bama. Beating UTEP by 24 pts. Slow starts, same comments after every game, we’ll need a few years to recruit, etc. I foresee the same record as last year and a ton more instability last year. I see certain players looking better but no difference in the team or season. We fired a coach (and rightfully so) that only won 4 games but are making excuses for CJP for the exact results. I watch, listen, buy shirts and hats, but maybe I am a Nega. Wondering if I will ever get to change my screen name.
