8 win season including bowl game is the ceiling for team 121 as butch can't fix this mess.

I won't be shocked to lose our season opener. Changes must be made on D. Hoping that Shoop just had his hands tied this year and Jones cuts him loose to do his thing this time around. Hope the QB is legit and we know in the Spring who will be starting, not having it drug out until Fall.

I could see CBJ playing both thru the FL game. One will be the man after that. If SHOOP is smart he will have a much quicker and lighter lineup for DLINE for the GTECH game. completely different setup for that game! We start the season in the top 15 AND GTECH in the top 25

Offensively the Vols may be only a shell of the offense produced by team 120, defensively.......God only knows?

I know it could be worse but it would be hard to imagine it, even worse to have to watch it week after week.

If he is the best RB on the roster and didn't start then that's a complete failure on the part of the coaching staff.

And you're completely discounting Kamara missing two games, barely being used the first half of the season, and Kelly getting almost all his yards against the soft part of the schedule.

At this point, my expectations are that U.T. is an 8 win regular season record team and to win the bowl game to elevate us to 9 wins,,,

The SEC is full of good teams, year in and year out. It is not reasonable for any fan to expect great records every year....
When we recruit, we may recruit in the top 10 but Alabama, Georgia, LSU & Florida all have better classes than we do. So, how do we expect to beat them? We may have top 10 recruiting classes but we are not making any progress because our to close the gap....

Last time we played a triple option, they went for two to win, a great VFL went down, etc...

I think most don't see that 4 game back to back each week like we had this year with uf,uga,a&m, bama which kinda gives us a chance for a little breather between our top opponents.

I'm starting to think CBJ can't see the forest for the trees. He doesn't see the situation as the mess it really is. Just read that we were ranked 109th on defense out of 128(?), teams. Mess is a polite word. How ever we have his assurance that he is going to "thoroughly evalute" the entire program. 8 -4 sounds bout right. Just think when we did this at the 1st of this year it was overwhelmingly 10 - 2 and we were right but two of the losses we had should not have occurred. We need to do a poll next year before the season starts to get everyone's take.

It's been so very long since UT had a great defense, I'm beginning to wonder if they will ever assemble a dominating defense once again?

Hi , Auburn fan here
Next year Tennessee should expect nothing less than a SEC East title . At least you guys should be contending for it into November .
Anything less than that Butch Jones' entire tenure should be called into question

He's still got two or three years of depth building to do.

Some of you all are just in way too much of a damn rush. We're just finally getting some stability, and then after a decade or so, we might be able to judge and see if we have a bad coach or not.

vs. Georgia Tech
this will be a tough test considering what Ga Tech does (triple option) but honestly this is the best place to get them. You have months to prepare for it and plus Ga Tech will be breaking in a new QB . Tennessee should win this game
INDIANA STATE
Tennessee should cruise in this one. Evaluate and improve over what they saw in Atlanta
at Florida*
Huge game , finally got over the hump this year in beating Florida . Now it's time to see if the Vols can turn it into their own streak . I think they can if they learn from the Ga Tech game and improve at home vs InState
UMASS
Sandwich game between the two big ones . Tenn can either be licking their wounds or they could be setting up for a huge year. Tennessee should win big either way .
GEORGIA*
Tenn has beaten the Dawgs two years in a row . Great improvement but the Vols can't go backwards they have to win this one
SOUTH CAROLINA*
This is a tricky game but considering this game will be a major topic of the week since you guys lost this game this year . Players will play hard to win this one so Tennessee wins
at Alabama*
On the road in the SEC tough on the road at Alabama ....Hahahaa we all know how this ends . But the Vols should at least be competitive
at Kentucky*
Kentucky will be improved next year but they still will be years away from Tenn so Tenn should win
SOUTHERN MISS
Good game to rest some guys and gain more depth
at Missouri*
Oh Missouri ... they will still the worst team in the SEC . Tennessee should win but this is most definitely a trap game
LSU*
LSU will be coming off of Arkansas which should be a physical game . Can Tenn use that to their advantage ? They should
VANDERBILT*
Vanderbilt will be good next year . Tennessee won't lose this game two years in a row .

I think Tenn should win the SEC East but next year they will have even less breathing room . Consider this though . In my opinion there's only one game you can count as a loss and that's @ Alabama . Everything else is completely winnable

I expect to see more consistent play on both sides of the ball. We looked very disjointed this year on both sides. I expect to see the offense actually sustain a drive of more than 4-5 plays. We can't live and die by the big play every game. As for results, I think this roster is very capable of winning the East.

To win the east. Nothing less. It really should be higher than that after the crap we had to deal with this year. If Butch can't do this then he should be fired. 5 years to win the east when it is down the most.

The east is winnable in 2017---florida's offense will suck again and they are losing 4-5 top players on D. Georgia will not be any good either.

We can expect whatever we want but until the Vols develop the offensive and defensive lines, they will be an 8-4 program.

Still want to know who is the genius that thinks it's a good idea to open the season vs Ga Tech. The way the Jackets cut block, expect to have a least a couple of defensive linemen to miss time after that game with knee injuries. Probably shouldn't even let Shy Tuttle play in that one.
