Guys, welcome to the 13th annual weekly pick contest, which will last the entire season and consist of 13 weekly entries.

Each week I will select 10 games from around college football, which will be posted on Sunday (or Monday at the latest). I will not include any Thursday or Friday games, just to keep things consistent with the entry deadline.

All entries will be due before noon (Eastern Time) on Saturday.

The season winner will receive a $300 Amazon gift card.

Please post in this thread if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments.

Also, I strongly suggest setting up a recurring reminder on your computer or phone. If you miss a week, you can still have fun competing with other members, but it will be really hard for you to win the contest.

Chicken bones failed me badly last week. Went to Winn-Dixie today and bought another chicken. We'll see how this one does.....

Another 5 - 5 week...still climbed a few spots...only 12 points behind.

College football is impossible. Two years ago I built out a data model that would predict every FBS game, probably spent 40+ hours shoving stats and recruit rankings into this thing and lo and behold it predicted 83% of all college wins correctly . . . . but I finished 119th in the pick 'em.

Why? Because it was only a little better than a coin toss for games that Vegas thinks will be pretty much a coin toss, lines of plus or minus 3.5. Common sense would have told me that to begin with, but sometimes you have to learn the hard way. :eek:lol:

UF - Ark. I figured UF's run defense would prove the difference. It did, just not the way I thought.

My "upset" picks were UGA - UK (whew) and Ok. St - KSU. Went against the grain with the 7 (yep) sites I use to make my picks.

In the end, 67% is not much better than I could do just picking based on the eye test. First year I've really worked at it. Honestly, I think it's more luck than anything else.
