2016 Trap Game on the Schedule

I agree with you. I think of a trap game as one that should be 95% a win. I can't call TAMU that. I think they will be extremely difficult to beat at home.

Excellent point on Misswho and usc jr. My biggest concern with A&M is the spot on the schedule. As I stated previously, every year I look at the schedule and there is typically 1 game that just is in a bad spot on the schedule and to me this year it's A&M on the road.

Arkansas was not a trap game last year...Mizzou was. TAMU is not a trap game this year....lol.....that will be South Carolina.

Agreed. South Carolina was awful last year and would have beaten us in Neyland if it wasn't for Malik Foreman of all people. They are the consensus worst team in the East according to the media. I'm not sure that I buy that.

I think USCjr is not as horrible as people make them out to be. They lost 5 games last year by 7 points or less.
Let's be honest people....Vandy is still the worst team in the league.

A trap game is a game you are overwhelming favorites not one where it is even competition. Therefore, neither Arky last year, nor A&M this year can be trap games. Appalachian State, Ohio or maybe Vandy might qualify as potential trap games for 2016.

Georgia. It's a home game for Georgia and their running game blew us throughout the whole game last season without Nick Chubb even be in the game.

Every year there is 1 game that falls on the schedule that seems to be in a bad spot against a good team. Last year it was Arkansas. If we played Arkansas last year any other time on the schedule I don't believe we lose to them. However because of where it fell on the schedule I felt it was a trap game.

This year to me the trap game is Texas A&M. It's a road game right after Georgia and the week before Bama. I hate where this game falls for several reasons. 1st it will be 2 tough road games in a row. 2nd week be fore Bama. 3rd No break to that point on the schedule which is front end loaded. 4th if Trevor Knight can play like he did at Oklahoma a few years ago, then A&M will be better than everyone including myself is predicting.

List yours and provide insight on why.

Trevor Knight QB'd oklahoma to a Sugar Bowl victory over bammer as a freshman(?) so he's a capable QB.

He has a good group of receivers to throw to.

The 'D' will be better.

Sumlin's $5M hot seat is getting warmer. :dunno:

#120 is not susceptible to "trap" games. I really think they take it one game at a time.

I have over looked VTech, like most of Volnation. Right now our Vols are just working on getting better. JD is convinced that he can make any throw needed. He convinced me, that he is ready and still getting better.

Jump higher Vols.

Correct, and thats why A&M is thee trap game.

Gotta say though, out of all of the four games in the gauntlet, A&M is the one team that I think we'd be most likely to blow right out of the stadium, assuming there's no key injuries. We may lose, but I don't know. They have the worst rush defense (worst defense in general, actually) of the four and our defense could potentially be elite. Stop or even limit their receivers and its game over imo. We know how bad azz the Vol rushing attack is. Most yards in school history last season minus that 1951 championship season with the GOAT as the HC. A&M ain't stopping it. It could get ugly. Jmo.

Trap game no doubt to me is Texas A&M. I picked us to lose to them as our only regular season loss by a score of 30-31. Get beat on a last second FG.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we play Bama at the end of that 4 game stretch
My bad but anyway a cluster of hard games and hope we don't overlook A&M for Bama. Hardest stretch this season for any team in my own opinion. Maybe if we get a big win it will be contagious.

You may have overlooked VTech..but Im sure your team has not. Championship caliber teams don't over look anybody, they take it one week and opponent at a time!

Yes I realize that (and That's a mistake)...good thing fans aren't playing the game! Im sure CBJ wont let the actual team overlook anybody!

That's the beauty of being a fan, no work all play. It's on the players to work to improve, all a fan should do is show up and get loud.

We can only trap ourselves! This team has had heart break and pain. We have almost so much and these young men will carry the fight every game and keep it there! Vols Cfp 🏆🖐🏻

Your right. It's all about the Vols again. All these other teams can do whatever they want, bottom line, how great can the Vols be this year? Dobbs said that about the same time he said he was the hardest working man in America, after saying he knows he has every throw that is needed. They represented the Vols well at the SEC MD.

If we make it through the Gauntlet 4-0 or 3-1, the team will be 100% focused and determined after the bye week. No way we lose any of those remaining games. If there is a trap game, it'll be earlier in the season, within the first seven games. Since everyone wants to say the four-game gauntlet can't be considered a trap (although I'd say TAMU is the trap) because we are familiar with what is to come, then my trap game will be Virginia Tech.

I'd go with Virginia tech. Hard to know what to expect outa them this year but seems they picked up a solid coach to go with a good defense. With it being the biggest game ever maybe that game won't qualify to be a trap. If that's the case I'd say S Car. I know I know, theyre not on the same level as this team but isn't that the definition of a "trap game?" A game where your the overwhelming favorite?

This year's trap game is, without a doubt, going to be LSU. I know that game is not until December 3rd, but hopefully Butch can make sure that Team 120 doesn't look ahead to the College Football Playoffs in Tampa, and risk overlooking a pretty good LSU team that we'll be facing at a neutral site.

No team will be overlooked by #120. The guantlet 4 are the only teams that have a true chance of even competing with #120. The other 8 teams are inferior to #120, and will be warm up to the gauntlet teams or to the SECCG and the playoffs.

The Vols could possibly face several trap games and very close call's this year.......I remember the Syracuse game, the year the Vols won it all....then the Clint Stoner Arkansas fumble miracle......the Vols could always use a little luck to go with all the talent Butch has accumulated
Go Vols
