“An interesting way to compare teams heading into the season is ranking each unit (quarterback, wide receivers, linebackers, etc.) then producing an average unit ranking to get a more complete sense of how each team projects. . . . Here's how the SEC stacks up in 2016 in average unit ranking from Athlon and Lindy's, using each of the seven unit rankings from each publication (plus special teams in Lindy's):

1. Alabama (2.3)
•Highest: Defensive Line & Linebackers (1st both)
•Lowest: Quarterback (5th both)

2. LSU (3.4)
•Highest: Running Back (1st both)
•Lowest: Linebackers (7th both)

3. Tennessee (3.6)
•Highest: Special Teams (1st Lindy's), Quarterback & Linebackers (2nd both)
•Lowest: Wide Receivers (7th Athlon, 6th Lindy's)” (SEC Unit Rankings: Comparing Athlon & Lindy's - Rocky Top Talk)

Dang. Is SCar really gonna be the worst team in the conference? Got my money on vandie....they're gonna suck.

It says we're very thin at LB behind JRM and Kirkland, but I'd disagree with that. Between Sapp, McDowell, Smith, Bynum, Jumper, and Bryant, that's more than enough quality depth, IMO.

Muschamp is tool.. Could not happen to a nicer guy

Took the words right out of my mouth. He was happy to see all the sad people leaving Neyland but I cant wait to watch him implode on the sideline at SC. :cool2:

sCar is landing 2 star recruits in the SEC. On the same path as Vandy

I mean.... they've landed some solid 3 stars with some 4 stars sprinkled in... but their fans keep talking about Muschamp's "amazing" recruiting and how elite their talent that they're bringing in is... but it's baffling to me. They ended up 9th in the SEC last year with 27 players in their class. They were 24th nationally according to 247, which is solid, but it's not what I'd call "amazing."

Butch's classes being in the top 5 after a "Titanic" program with Dools as Captain John Smith is truly...."amazing".

and all he had to do was stay in his lane at Texas and let Mac go out on his own terms. He's been a big part of two major school implosions, soon to be a third.

I dunno, if Jumper is #2 behind Kirkland we're thin. Jumper has the want to he just does not have the get there talent it takes to play in the SEC. You can't coach two steps to his giddyup. However, Shoop has a history of doing better with less talent and for that we could be in very good hands if we need to lean on some of these kids.

Expectations are low for our WRs. The talent is there. Step up the passing game and Team 120 has all the ingredients for a special season.

I think we will make huge strides at WR this year and increased passing to TEs will take some of the heat off of WRs too.

If Tuttle comes back full strength and we maintain our depth at DT, then DL could be Top 3 or even #1 (bama DTs are awfully good though)...our DEs are top shelf and very good up to 4 deep. Hopefully Shoop won't be putting Vereen in pass protection on certain downs like last year. I think we got burned badly at least 3 times on that coverage.

Under Shoop, Secondary with talent influx could be special. It will have a lot more speed. Just need young bucks to ramp up quickly and open up a can of Cam Sutton as needed!

Oh, I like this LB comparison.

In 2015, we had 172 rushing yrds to alabama's 162 -- very nice.

This year, OL will need to match with one or two long-yardage runs + add / connect on a few long passes + defend for 60 full minutes, to make a Win very achievable.

Mizzou is missing along with TAM. Do you have the right year?

Actually, I think maybe I don't. I'll look around a bit more to confirm.

Edit: that was indeed an old list, not 2016. Having no success finding this year's complete list.

Lets ya know how little Bates has done when you dont list him at all.
