I'm not surprised that Trump continues to gain support despite his empty, bombastic, and consistently idiotic things he says. If you examine a sample of the people he's pandering to(for example, his ardent supporters on this board), it makes sense. Those folks aren't interested in anything but the personality and the rhetoric rather than substance. The more dumb **** he says, the better. Flies love the smell of crap, I believe is the principle at work here.
What gets me is that they have simply ignored the objective fact that Trump never has, until very recently, shown himself to be anything close to a conservative through his actions and words. And even now, when you can actually get him to talk about his actual policy plans(hard to do, he'd rather rant like a lunatic saying vague, weird catchphrases- apparently his lunatic fans would rather hear that as well), many if not most of his stances aren't really conservative at all. Financially included.
Are these people really that stupid to think he really represents their conservative values?
Or do they actually not give a damn about what they say they do, and just like Trump because of his blowhard personality?
Or are they all just saying a big **** you to the system, thinking it can't be fixed, so might as well vote for trump for the lulz?
Find out next time on "Skin's Delusion: Part II".
This isn't an election based on policy or issues per se. Trump's support comes from the fact that the Republican electorate is absolutely, totally pissed at the Republican Party for refusing to do what they were elected to do.
They will not support who the party wants them to support. They have been lied to already about the debt and immigration. They know that they can't support a Democrat in any way, shape, or form, so Trump is their only hope. They have nowhere to turn. They will take a chance that Trump may be different.
Trump/Cruz is a big FU. Also those 2 are the only ones who look like they are having fun out there. I also enjoy Trumps no bs attitude. Last night was a prime example. When some lame reporter tried to stump the Trump but couldn't b/c he got the quote wrong. Trump called him out on it. The reporter blamed the Wifi not working. It was hilarious. I'm tired of establishment types and coastal elitist telling how others should think.
I don't know who you support. Why don't you state it? Is it too hard?
Whatever, but I'm right. Furthermore, Hillary won't be in the race by election time. Then they will get what they deserve. A egotistical, self serving carnival barking reality TV star that has snowed them into believing he will magically transform into an service first, altruistic evangelical who won't use the position to line his own pockets.
Bold strategy Cotton.
More importantly, and this ought to be obvious, the context of Reagan's decision to skip the 1980 debate is different than the context of Trump's decision. Reagan was not in a petty feud with the Des Moines Register at the time. His campaign manager simply believed that as the frontrunner, Reagan was above the debate.

Reagan skipped, Rand skipped, and now Trump is skipping. BFD. Who cares?
