This entire election cycle needs all new blood on both sides. American voters need to flush this race of the retards, flush the unlimited cash cow, flush the gerrymandering and seek true statesman. I think I'll just do a write in vote for Susan Powter.

Ted Cruz on Social Security:
"Social Security benefits right now grow about 1% greater than inflation; we should have those benefits grow at the rate of inflation, not 1% more."

Marco Rubio on Social Security:

"At a 2010 debate, [the moderator] asked me whether I would change the cost-of-living adjustment for Social Security. I had answered him honestly, saying that "all these issues have to be on the table," including "the way we index increases in the cost of living."

This won't get Rubio many votes from retirees if they know his stance on an issue that affects tens of millions of people.

Donald J Trump on Social Security:

"Social Security faces a problem: 77 million baby boomers set to retire. Now I know there are some Republicans who would be just fine with allowing these programs to wither and die on the vine. The way they see it, Social Security and Medicare are wasteful "entitlement programs." But people who think this way need to rethink their position. It's not unreasonable for people who paid into a system for decades to expect to get their money's worth--that's not an "entitlement," that's honoring a deal. We as a society must also make an ironclad commitment to providing a safety net for those who can't make one for themselves."

Trump just might be the candidate for Retirees.

What are your thoughts on this?

"It may mean it’s a new opening and thawing of relations. I’ve always said that negotiations are better than war, and the if Iran adheres to this, it will be a good agreement...' 'It goes to temperament. All the other Republicans are telling you -- rip up that agreement. I say, 'Really? Don't we want to see if it works first?' 'It's about the decision over who you want as a commander in chief,' Paul said. 'Part of that judgment is that you want someone with wisdom, strength, and ability to carefully evaluate situations without acting rashly. The other people onstage want to react strongly against anything Obama does, without considering the consequences of what they are saying."

150 billion dollars for four hostages, seems fair. Rand is a fool if he thinks this is a "goodwill gesture " on behalf oh the supreme leader, further proof why the masses continue to reject his foreign policy. He needs to go ahead and bow out gracefully while he's got some dignity left..

The masses accept/support the status quo when it comes to foreign policy. WTF do they know?

I agree. I don't necessarily think it's a good law, but it needs to be amended for Cruz to be eligible. It seems like a no-brainer. If Rs want to fight this, I don't ever want to hear them complain about a "living constitution" again.

Cruz has now flip flopped on Snowden. He's shifting more towards big government by the second. This is amazing.

Your bias is showing. There are other issues that would be more relevant to Cruz "flip-flopping", but this one is rather weak. If like most people (including your guy Rand), you felt that the US had/has gone too far with bulk data collection, but you also believe that what Snowden did was treason... then you should label yourself and most people in this forum as flip-floppers as well. Just go back and read some of the posts in the Snowden thread when the news first broke.

The evidence: Cruz was asked about Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who exposed government surveillance tactics, at a 2013 event held by TheBlaze TV. Cruz declined to label Snowden a “patriot” or a “traitor,” according to The Blaze, saying he needed more facts about Snowden’s motives and whether he was telling the truth.

Cruz said: “If it is the case that the federal government is seizing millions of personal records about law-abiding citizens, and if it is the case that there are minimal restrictions on accessing or reviewing those records, then I think Mr. Snowden has done a considerable public service by bringing it to light.”

But Cruz also suggested Snowden should be prosecuted if he broke the law: “If Mr. Snowden has violated the laws of this country, there are consequences to violating laws and that is something he has publicly stated he understands and I think the law needs to be enforced.”

In another 2013 interview, Cruz warned against a “rush to judgment or jump to conclusions” on the surveillance program without knowing more details about it. But he criticized the Obama administration for a “pattern” of “willingness to use the machinery of government to implement political and partisan ends and to mislead the people about it.”

In 2016, Cruz told the New York Times that he now believes Snowden is a traitor: “It is now clear that Snowden is a traitor, and he should be tried for treason.”

Our ruling: Rubio’s wrong. Cruz didn’t call Snowden a “great public servant.” Instead, he said since the Snowden news first broke in 2013 that he needed more information to decide whether Snowden had done a public service or whether he should be prosecuted. He left himself room to decide on it later — and now, he’s decided against Snowden.
