Absolutely. These speeches have very little political substance, but entertainment value through the roof. I understand the appeal, but how far can it go without substance? It certainly hasn't hurt him yet.
Just changed my registration here in Florida to Republican in order to vote for Cruz or Paul in the primary. First time in some time I feel like an opening exists to make a real break from the coalition of crony governance we've suffered over the last several years.
In some respects, Trump is responsible for the opportunity. His presence has opened the election up to different ideas and ways of viewing foreign and domestic policy. We finally have a party that is actually discussing the relative value of government intervention domestically and Wilsonian intervention abroad.
Jeb Bush wanted this to be a coronation. Without Trump involved, he may well have been able to pull it off. He and his cohorts in the RNC would have been able to pick the outsiders off bit by bit as they have done before.
He's light on policy details and in some cases disturbingly so. But he has made it possible for differences in policy to get valuable consideration in the primary season.
My fear is that the establishment will eventually view Trump as more amenable to their needs and throw their weight behind him in the belief his bark is far worse than his bite. I hope instead they continue in the fog of confusion over whether to choose Bush, Rubio, Christie, or some other hero to save them. This will increase the likelihood we don't get a representative of the GOP Surrender Caucus facing the Democrat in 2016.
So much truth in here. I will be voting for Paul in the primary.
The way Trump was talking last night Rand won't make it to the primaries. He said Rand had stayed when he did not make the main stage in a debate he would drop out. Per Trump Rand's numbers are failing to the point he won't be able to make.
This is just what Trump said, may be true, may not be.

I'd prefer to see Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Christie and Paul as the five for the next debate and really mix it up.
I know Paul is polling lower than Jeb and Carson, but let's face it, I don't know how Jeb's numbers are staying above 5%. And anyway, he offers something different in the mix than Jeb. And Carson is in the slow decline.
He does but he is simply not selling himself to the voters. I think Rand hurt his chances bad in that first debate. It was a terrible performance.
It is a shame but that's how the cookie crumbled.
No, but he came back pretty decently in the next ones.
He represents the side of the party that can make or break the election. And IMO should be included because he does have some good ideas and can bring attention to different problems. While the more I study his stances, the less apt I am to vote for him in the primaries. But I do respect what he's trying to do and respect his views on a lot of things.
He is one of those guys that has some good ideas but does not know how to sell them to a wide range of people. The guy I would like to see do well is Kasich. Like Paul, it's not happening. I seriously believe out of the group running Kasich would make the best president.
