Honestly, I'm kind of a history buff and I didn't remember off the top of my head that they had been representatives. I knew there were, but I wouldn't have even thought to call him out for it.
It's just funny that he would make that up, especially on twitter where he has time to look it up (as opposed to on a debate stage).
Thomas Jefferson was elected to Virginia House of Burgesses in 1769.
John Adams was elected to Massachusetts Assembly in 1770.
Samuel Adams was elected to Massachusetts Assembly in 1765.
John Hancock was elected to the Boston Assembly in 1766.
Benjamin Harrison was elected to Virginia House of Burgesses, 1764.
I could go on and on. Ben Carson might be a neurosurgeon but he also doesn't know American History. If he had done a simple Google search he would have found this out.
