There are plenty of poor people that are trash. That said, the best people in heart and spirit that I have ever been around are poor country folks. Black and white. Don't have much, but they worked harder for what they have than most people will ever dream of. And if they need to, would give you the shirts off of their backs to keep you fed. Salt of the earth people. My family on my dad's side were tobacco farmers in east TN right back in a holow oof Chapman highway. Best people ever. He is one of 13 kids, all born at home to midwifes. Got indoor plumbing when he was 13. Just retired as a lt.col. he will be fine til the Lord takes him due to 26yrs active and 4 reserve. Military was a way off the farm.

In total agreement about poor people around here that I have known my whole life.

He condemned them multiple times prior. The only people making it an issue are the establishment types

Also Trump was endorsed by a Civil Rights activist

That's the most concerning thing about Trump. He is aware of who David Duke is, yet he acted as if he didn't know him and tried to resist condemning the KKK because he claims he didn't have enough "information". To be honest, I am not entirely sure if Trump is genuinely as racist as he appears. But he sure is a pathological liar who pretends to be in order to get votes.

He said he couldn't hear the question through an ear piece. He condemned them multiple times prior to the inverview and multiple times afterward.

And this makes him different than the other candidates how?

I'm sorry but I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt. I call bull****.

So the guy condemns them during a press conference, condemns them on Facebook and Twitter, condemns them at a rally but then stumbles on a phone interview and you call bs? Okay. Just vote for Hillary. I don't care.

I get it. We all want to be equal. There is a double standard when it comes to how we percieve poor blacks and poor whites. But acting as if Bernie Sanders is racist toward poor white people and that his comment is more racist than anything that has came out of Donald Trumps mouth is absolutely idiotic. Blatantly saying Mexicans are rapist, Muslims should be banned from this country, and not condemning the KKK when given an opportunity (who the **** doesn't condemn the KKK. It's like when a girl asks if you think she is skinny. You say yes. When someone says will you condemn the KKK, you say yes), are blatantly racist actions. I just don't agree on your stance of what racism is. But I respect your courage to stick up for poor whites across America.

I never said Bernie Sanders was racist. I said it was a racist comment and reveals a lot about how he views the world up from his progressive ivory tower. The general gist of his statement was that blacks have a different experience than whites, which I think has a lot of truth to it. His idea that whites can't "know" the same level of poverty as blacks is insulting to anyone who grew up dirt-poor with almost nothing. Hell, in Appalachia there are still places where people don't have amenities that were commonplace elsewhere decades ago, and it's 98% white. I would think he wouldn't be so tone-deaf, considering his primary voting bloc is poor white people - whether rural or college kids.

But it's not just about whites. He equates the black experience with living in a ghetto, which is probably more insulting. The black community has been attempting to climb this mountain for decades, but luckily all-knowing white progressive Bernie Sanders is here to generalize them and put them in their place. You asked a few days ago why Hillary was doing better with African-Americans - this is why.

While I do think Trump's rhetoric is deftly crafted to inflame the racist inclinations of part of his base, I think it's very debatable as to whether he's issued a blanket racist statement like that one. The "they're racists" thing is the closest I've heard, and I fully agree that one was pretty bad, although I've heard some differing opinions on how to interpret it. He never said he wanted to ban all Muslims - just enact a temporary halt on immigration until the US has a way to vet them. It's 100% unconstitutional and impossible, but I don't think it comes from a racist sentiment. The David Duke thing was weird, but he did disavow the endorsement before the strange interview on CNN. And I did say when it happened that I thought he was trying to slither his way out of it because he knows there are white supremacist groups supporting his candidacy, but does that say anything about Trump himself other than that he's a pandering politician? I think Trump is a clown who has no right to be anywhere near the White House, but when I hear things like what Bernie said I understand why disaffected whites are flocking to Trump. The Democratic Party has left them.

That we can agree on. He knows exactly what he's doing - exploiting the most vulnerable demographic.

It's interesting. When I view this forum, Cruz is garbage. When I view other forums and listen to conservative talk show hosts, he's a solid conservative candidate.

Have you seen the polls? There are plenty of knuckledragging Trump supporters. Most of them are just huge ******* who won't admit to it.

EDIT: Polls on VN that is.

Americans Really Don't Like Immigration, New Survey Finds - Bloomberg Business

Sixty-one percent of Americans agree that "continued immigration into the country jeopardizes the United States," according to a new poll commissioned by management consulting firm A.T. Kearney that revealed pessimism across a wide range of issues.

The degree of concern is remarkable considering that the question was about all immigration, including the legal kind. Even Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said he supports legal immigration into the U.S.

61% wow

Ironic that a nation of immigrants doesn't like immigration.

Color me surprised, but this is something I would expect out of Stormfront or similar websites.

Agreed, but at the same time... it wouldn't surprise me if that sample size checked out and reflected the views of Americans.

A lot of us are dumb as rat ****. Alert the media.

The problem is there is no link to the survey so no demographic statistics available. That would tell a whole lot about the responses.

Trump said "Just so you understand, I don't know anything about David Duke, OK". "I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists," he said. "So I don't know. I don't know -- did he endorse me, or what's going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke; I know nothing about white supremacists."

His earpiece wasn't working? What a load of ****. Yes he spoke out against them before, but how is it that someone who speaks out against them now appears so hesitant about condemning them. He simply did not want to lose racist voters. Anyone with a brain can see that. Now of course he was going to condemn them after the interview after realizing the PR mess it brought. Like I said, I don't think Trump is a true racist. But he understands a lot of his support comes from Anti Mexican/Black/Muslim voters.

I understand your frustration with the democratic party as a whole, but I simply did not agree with Bernie's statements being more blatantly racist than Trumps.

I was irritated by Sanders' response. Also irritated by the line of questioning. I don't understand why Sanders gets rattled by people questioning him on race relations. He was a social activist back when it wasn't the easy stance to take. People got beat up, locked up, and ridiculed back then for standing up for equality. Now its the overwhelmingly popular stance and everyone with a keyboard believes theyre some great champion of civil rights.

The mantra of racial inequality is starting to go too far in one direction, but whatever.
