If we're being honest with ourselves, anyone who wasn't delusional knew that Rand stood little chance after Trump gained so much momentum. He reframed the primary race.
Between Trump, the swindling huckster from Calgary who tries to play issues both ways while branding himself as an "outsider" because everyone hates his guts, and a socialist loon who combines the Pauls' stance on civil liberties with free stuff, Rand didn't have much of a chance of gaining traction. Add that to his foreign policy, which I'm not sure people examined thoroughly enough before condemning him as an isolationist. It's a different approach, but I'm not sure it's wrong. But ultimately, very few really want fiscal conservatism.
He's not even an isolationist. Isolationism = no diplomatic relations + no intervention. He's only half an isolationist. Since basically all Rs like the usage of sanctions (IE suspending diplomatic relations), they are all half isolationists, too.
