2016 Election Thread Part Deux

As I said, there was no doubt the appeal of Trump's rage virus was always there for you. It was an all-too-perfect marriage, and I wonder how it took you so long to figure it out yourself. Most of us knew you were a Trumper before even you did evidently.
To be perfectly honest with you, I told a my brother and a few people that Trump was the only Republican that could make me sit out the election and not vote. This was when rumors were that he was going to run. I guess he was 17th of 17 for me.

I despised him, and never watched The Apprentice because he was such an arrogant blowhard. I think his appeal to me started when he told the establishment Republican politicians, and the Republican Party to pound sand. I admire a man who isn't controlled by others. Now, I like the fact that he tells the Democrats and the Media to pound sand. He is a showman.

I question the sanity of anyone who lives for greed and power at all costs.

Again, this is one of the disconnects I just can't understand about you Trumpers, other than that you're either half-literate or you're simply full of uninhibited rage, or both. You can rightfully criticize her for the above, but you see no irony in your support for Trump, a man who is so afraid of his own tax returns he's deemed it better to hide them than to be president.

It still amazes me that less than a month from the election there are still some of you who seem to legitimately believe that this man loves America and/or simply wants to "shake up the establishment" for the greater good.

There's absolutely nothing about this man's record that suggests we should be confident in either of those two options. The Trump Campaign will go down on record as the greatest pyramid scheme in American history.

"Libertarians are so weird they basically aren't in the conversation Maybe if they were the only party at the beginning, but they are just too far separated from the reality of the time to be in play - and that doesn't mean I completely disagree with a lot of the concepts."

I missed the period at the end of the first sentence. But what I was trying to get across is that the Libertarian concept is simply too foreign for most of the electorate. If the party was an established and known brand like Rep and Dem, it might have a chance.

If the concept was more a current part of the terminology like liberal and conservative, it might have a chance. But even at that, look at the similarity in the start of the name - libertarian vs liberal - that's a problem in itself because people are simply too lazy to learn and Libertarians have no platform to educate.

"Independent" at least says something - "I'm not one of them." Libertarian is and probably will never be more than a buzzword - dust in the wind. One final element that's never needed to be played - this is a two party system, and Rep and Dem will fight together tooth and nail if necessary to keep it that way - you won't beat the system without destroying it - and a party that is more dedicated to playing down organized bullying isn't doing to defeat it.

It's a two party system only because we accept that. We are taught like sheep from an early age this is just how it is. But for a third party to truly emerge it has to build a base before it aims for the stars. That's the problem with most third party alternatives, they only spring up every four years for the Presidential elections. They have no power base.

If George Washington would have had his way, political parties would not have existed. He warned that their divisiveness would destroy America.

I guess that you are too far removed from regular people that you will never understand. Academia has twisted your mind.

Yeah, I'm going to call BS on that. Hillary may be evil. She may be in poor physical health. These are all legitimate areas in which she has demonstrated some concern in the past. But her sanity is not one of them.

Her behavior over the years is sociopathic. If that doesn't make you question her sanity, we have different ideas of sanity. Cold and calculating does not equal sanity. Serial killers are cold and calculating. Do you believe them to be sane?

Campaign finance and election reform (perhaps modeled more on Britain's election system, where each party nominates its representative and then has about a month or two to campaign him or her) are seriously needed, but, short of that, the only alternative to what Washington said is Joe from down the street just up and deciding he's going to run for president.

This election has taught me what it would mean for Joe from down the street to just up and decide he's running for president. No thanks. I'll take even our unreformed, corrupt two-party system over that kind of rank populism. Our presidents would end up either being tin foil conspiracy theorists with no telling what views on their fellow Americans and the rest of the world or only the wealthiest individuals in the country.

You can be a sociopath and still be sane. That's not my idea of sanity; it's the medical community's idea of sanity.

And again, how is any of this different from Trump in your assessment? You think Trump isn't a sociopath?

Personally, I think he's a narcissistic solipsist, who is incapable of fully grasping reality or normal codes of conduct. He may have brief moments of clarity, but, for the most part, he lives in a shadow world of his mind's own making. This would make him "insane," should this in fact be the case.

Your notion of "regular people," I don't think I care to know them. Sorry, I don't want to meet your friends.

Of course you don't. You are a liberal elitist, much like Hillary and Obama. You look down on the little people. It's your loss VP. Best people on Earth.

I can guarantee you I've spent plenty of time with regular people. I come from regular people.

The "regular people" of which you speak, I have no desire to know. They're not the "best people on Earth." Far from it. Just unwashed, rage-infested Trump supporters.

And stop calling me a "liberal," or I'm going to start calling you one since you're voting for a labor Democrat for president.

I have heard you denigrate members of your own family after seeing them on a visit. It must be difficult being a perfect person in an imperfect world. You have my sympathy.

Really not worthy of a response.

Do people in your real life actually give 2 sh!!s what you think? Your opinions are mocked here as if a mega troll. If you really are or were an actual professor, I weep for your students.

Post less and go away. Your shtick is getting old here.

Actually, Gramps tried his best to talk me out of supporting Cruz, and we had some back and forth banter about Cruz. I didn't like Cruz personally, but thought that his beliefs were closest to mine.

One of the few main things I agree with Gramps on politically (besides the need for less hyperbole and vitriol in politics).

After Trump became the nominee, I came on board, in spite of misgivings about him. The thing that I really like about Trump is that the Republicans hate him, the Democrats hate him, the Media hate him, the Pope hates him, Wall Street hates him, Liberal twerps hate him, etc. That alone makes me think that the Beltway needs to be broken up.

When everybody in the "know" politically hates somebody, what's not to like?

This is terrible logic.

Most people in America dislike Kim Jong-un. Hell, most people in the world dislike the bastard. That in no way reflects the positives of the person.

Don't let your dislike of those groups override your own judgement of his character.

I disagree with your premise. I am talking about the hate he has incurred from groups who are simply worried about losing power and influence if Trump is elected. Trump, for all his flaws, is not Kim Jong-in.

Yes, I'm sure the morally upright 1972 has never denigrated any of his family members after a visit.

You're struggling now. I mean, you're really having a bad time.

I agree trump isn't Kim Jong-Un, he's a lot smarter than that kid. Trump is more like the minister from The Purge election year...

Find a post where I have said anything bad about my family members. I respect them.

So, because you've never posted anything negative about a family member, you've never thought anything negative about a family member?

What was it I told you all about arrogance and honesty? If you're arrogant, at least be honest about it. Don't hide. Wasn't that what I said?

I won't call you a liberal.

I will call you a condescending, overbearing douche that needs to come off his perceived high horse.
