Do you fellers realize that a major American political party is about to be forced to nominate a candidate who thinks nuclear weapons can be used in conflict like a common grunt uses his M4 carbine?

This is uncharted territory. No American president has ever been so loose with discussion about nuclear weapons use.

Forget about trusting this guy with the 3 AM phone call; I don't even trust the person that trusts a person who trusts Trump with a 3 AM phone call.

It's high past time we, as a nation, started treating this character's performance less like one befitting a reality TV show and more like what it truly is: a presidential campaign. A serious presidential campaign.

I agree. The GOP has failed the people who delivered them majorities in both houses.

The leadership created this environment through their disingenuous campaigns and then marginalization of the voters who put them there.

Everyone with the exception of the opposing party has had enough of their antics. Now they will have to deal with the consequences. The GOP will look a lot different after this election, one way or the other. I'm not sad about it.

I can't say how I actually feel about him because I would be arrested. What a traitor to our country and israel. What a coward and liar. Worst president in history. Hands down.

I have a feeling that isn't such a minority, but in any case I guess I'm a fellow bigot. If lawyers need to be buried 8 feet down because "way down deep, they're really good guys", then we need some very heavy equipment for good (dead) politicians.

My language was poorly worded, but my point remains the same nonetheless.

Like with so many things Trump, I mostly write them off as just lip service to the common man's craving for strength, power, and "winning." That he's simply just saying these things because that's what his supporters want to hear and that he won't actually do them.

The problem is that I'm finding myself having to make this rationalization far too much. Where does it end? Where do we put aside the antics, draw a line, and then take this guy seriously? How do we decipher fact from fiction?

That's why the Republican party needs to be getting out the lipstick and start putting it on the pig. Do what they can to tame Trump, salvage this election cycle if possible, and then come up with a real candidate the next time around.

If this and the previous freak show haven't shocked them into some sense of reality though, there probably isn't much hope. They need to get off the single agenda issues and think people capable of being a world leader; there aren't many of those outside the military, and even that is pretty political.

If you can't get the party faithful, the people who absolutely reject the opposition candidates, and enough independent minds to be a contender, then you are pretty much a political farce.
