2016 Election Thread Part Deux

Eisenhower, Nimitz, Bradley, Marshall We're all great soldiers who could play the game of politics too. And general can't be a good general officer at the Combatant Command level without the ability to maneuver his way through politics. There aren't many generals or admirals that believe the military is a " social experiment" It is the department secretaries. The civilian oversight that are pressing social experiments on the military. If you are going to place blame place it in the right place first.

And where are the types of Flag officers you just listed today? You could count on one hand how many warriors have been in theater type leadership positions in the past 30 years. And those same Flag officers shouldn't have to navigate their way through politics. Politicians should stay the hell out of the way. Else you get BS like Vietnam, OIF, OEF and the likes where wars are endless with zero goals in the end.

And yes, the Secretaries are responsible for a good many things along those lines. However, Generals and Admirals also curry favor with politicians by making sure the newest and greatest weapons systems are produced in their favorite Senator or Congressman's backyard. Don't even act like it doesn't happen. They are more concerned about not losing their careers as they are with fighting the fights that need fighting.

There is no warrior class within the Flag ranks for the most part. They are bureaucrats and managers these days.

What do you expect. Junior NCO's and Officers spend more time being managers, and doing paper work than actual soldiering. I spend more time doing my NCOER, conducting squad and platoon inventory, giving classes on sexual harassment, and other stuff than I do teaching my soldier how to locate a roadside bomb or how to operate a .50 cal. And you're right most of the flag officers aren't "warriors". Only 2 of the 7 members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have seen combat. But what do you expect when all the General Staff officers are in their 50s. There won't be a staff of officers who have been in combat for another 10 years. Why??? Because the military makes you jump through every hoop in the world to get promoted. Combat experience no longer factors into your promotion points education does. An officer could have 5 combat tours but the question at his promotion board will be does he have a masters degree or has he been to the John F. Kennedy School of Government yet??? Does he have a degree in international relations from Georgetown University??? Has he been to ranger or sapper school??? The military for some reason wants more David Petraeus's and less Dick Winters.

Trump just gave an interview to Larry King on RT America. It was full of softball questions.

Actually, Petraeus was one of the few warriors I counted.

Before this election, if you asked me if I thought an American president or top candidate would get on the state-funded media channel of a major adversary to gloat and to pay his respects to its leader, I would have thought you silly for even asking.

This guy gives me a good godsmacking every day.

Trump has consistently surrounded himself with Kremlin weirdos throughout this election, but the biggest wonder to me has always been Michael Flynn's support. How could a retired American general be a total Kremlin stooge, even being paid by Russian state-funded media. Well, it seems I now have my answer: he's a true believer.

The JPost

Zzzz Jews. Zzzz Jews are everywhere! They're out to get us, mein Fuhrer!

If this is his reaction to simply being called a Kremlin stooge, which he is, I can't imagine what he most really think about things.

Speaking of which, there's a reason why it suddenly came out what an ass he was in Trump's intel briefing. Kremlin Don has been throwing the intel community under the bus for a long time now, and when he said they told him that Obama was a failure, they finally had enough. They leaked the bizarre happenings (including Chris Christie having to call Flynn down) of the briefing to the media in order to embarrass Trump (well, as much as a buffoon can be embarrassed).

Wait just a damn second. Hillary can be excused for compromising national security due to her technical stupidity because of her age but a Trump supporter of advanced age is crucified for a retweet?

Whose crucifying him, other than me? This hasn't even registered with our national media.

And if you think I haven't crucified Clinton, then you haven't been paying attention. I guess during my several calls for her imprisonment, you've just happened to be in other threads.

That I think, however, that we would be in even worse hands with Trump should tell you what I think of Trump, the Kremlin boot licker.

It's going to be hilarious when Johnson is on the ballot in all 50 states and Trump isn't.

You guys sure trump has the better chance of winning?

#neverhillary

I do believe that the nominee for both the Dem and Rep parties are automatically on every state ballot.

They get an automatic bid if they submit the proper paperwork. If you don't submit it, they don't know who to put on the ticket. Apparently they (I believe the party) did not do so in time.
