Yes but he still can't beat guys to the corner, turn on the jets, and blow by everyone for huge gains. Any big gains he got was usually because he used power to beat his man. Which is fine.

And again 40 times really don't matter on a football field. Jalen can run a 4.3 at the combine, I'm going with what my eyes see.

Who the hell do you see doing that consistently? No RB I've ever seen beats guys around the corner consistently then breaks it for a TD. You seem to have some unrealistic expectations. Even Adrian Peterson doesn't do that.

You got opposing coaches comparing Jalen to Adrian Peterson. You had the commentators during the bowl game last year comparing him to Marcus Allen. Be happy we have an elite RB rather than trying to nitpick and using unrealistic standards.

Ahem...Hurd ran for over 60 yards on 2 OUTSIDE RUN carries in our own spring game...in a no contact jersey. He is now 242 and according to practice reports is apparently noticeably faster and explosive, even after bulking up considerably. So yea, he's a freak. Actually, that makes him a bigger freak. In more meanings than one.

No RB ever? Chris Johnson was awfully good at it for a while.

Btw, the 4.37 was a legit time his rising senior summer and it was LASER-TIMED. You can't inflate that. He was recorded as the fastest player on the team last year by computers placed on the players. Faster than Moseley. He's gotten bigger. And FASTER. Holy hell guys, what more do you need to call him a freak? To have a 200 pound man slam into his leg while he's running, spin off it, catch balance and jet to an untouched TD between two safeties with angles? Oh yea, he did that. South Carolina game I believe, 4th quarter, crunch time, national stage? He's a freak. An elite-level freak.

Chris Johnson was also the fastest player in NFL history behind Bo Jackson and the new guy that didn't even get drafted if I remember right. He lost a step down to maybe a 4.3ish now and can't do that anymore. News flash: Fournette and Chubb do not run sub 4.3. I'm pretty sure neither of them run sub 4.4, either. They are both between 4.4 and 4.5.

He's not as fast. You can give me the 40 times all you want but he's not as explosive as Fournette or Chubb. It's easy to see on the field. Doesn't mean Jalen isn't great, because he's an excellent back but he's not a freak athlete than can rip off an 80 yard run at any time.

Idk who is faster but there is a tendency to inaccurately believe tall, bigger backs like Hurd are moving slower than they really are when watching a game. Especially when you consider his long stride that commentators mention all the time. Because he runs so effortlessly it might appear that he isn't as explosive/fast as Chubb or Fournette when in reality he very well may be.

Well those two guys aren't elite NFL athletes so my point stands.

Eddie won the Heisman and was inducted into the hall of fame in 2011. AF made ESPN top 100 this year so you sir are pretty hard to impress. Good post but I think the jury is still out on Hurd.

I don't think you are getting what he was saying. He's not nitpicking Jalen, he's said multiple times that's he's lived up to his 5 star rating. No one is disputing he's a very good back.

Nope. Gotta ignore the 95% of praise I heaped on him for one little semi negative.

Actually a surprising amount of his big runs when he was with the Titans were between the tackles or off tockle. Heimerdinger ran all kinds of great counters and stuff to get the opposing LBs to pause their feet, read, and react. That split second was all CJ needed back in those days. Once he got to the second level, it was basically just a foot race.

He didn't have a whole lot of big runs that were just him running to the edge around everybody. Nobody does that on the NFL.
