2015 NBA Playoff Thread

Wish we had the stat for 08-15 but in Brons first 5 years he was 17-50 on game winning shot chances (24 seconds or less left in the game, team with the ball is either tied or down by 1 to 2 points).

yup, that's what I was referencing. I knew it wasn't up until present, but didn't realize it was as old as 08. LOL. Time flies. What's the link? Fact check myself on Iggy.

IIRC, Paul Pierce did have a good % on there

Just 3?! With the way people talk you would have thought Jordan hit 50 of these things.

LeBron James is now measurably as clutch as Michael Jordan - SBNation.com

It's almost as if Jordan was 6 for 6 in championship series without needing to team up with Ewing and Reggie on the Knicks as he destroyed the Bulls and Pacers as his competition in the process. Then there's Lebron who is 2 for 5, needed to leave and join two other superstars while turning 2 of 8 regular playoff teams into non-playoff teams. The Cavs went from best record in the league to worst and the Raptors went from sneaking into the playoffs to being non-competitive. At least Lebron has made like 3 of 9,000 attempts with the game on the line though, amirite? Let's put things into perspective, it's not like last night was a game 7, it was game 4 in a series that's now tied 2-2 with at least 2 more games to play. In what way is a single game, making a single shot in who knows how many attempts, any way comparable to Jordan whose never seen a game 7 of the finals and had to win 24 games in going 6 for 6. Stockton and Malone are two of the greatest players of all-time at their respective positions and they couldn't even get more than 2 wins against Jordan and co. in multiple tries.

Simply put, Jordan could have stayed retired in his prime at the age of 29 and he'd still have 3 titles to 30 year old Lebron's 2. Not to mention, any time you compare them by age, Lebron had 3 more years at his disposal to achieve success since he came into league out of high school while Jordan played 3 seasons of college. With Jordan coming in three years later, retiring for a season and Lebron playing at the age of 30 this season, Lebron has actually had 5 more seasons under his belt in route to 2 titles than MJ had under his belt in route to his first 3. Also, MJ didn't have to eliminate his competition on good teams like the Knicks and Pacers by taking their franchise players and having them join him as it would be the only way for him to win a title.

i thought this narrative was put to rest?

It was. But Lebron fans, like Brady fans, refuse to accept reality as they're delusional. Comparing Lebron(loser) to Jordan, Brady(cheater) to Montana, Big Papi(roider) to Babe Ruth, Curt Schilling(faker) to Cy Young is like comparing UNC's student athletes to Harvard students. One has tutors do all of their work, the other is self-made. While we're at it, we may as well compare wine to koolaid, cheese wiz to swiss and chocolate to dog ****.

Jordan going 6 for 6 in a championship series(24 total wins)
>
Lebron making 3 field goals in 3 games that aren't even game 7's or the championship. If Lebron had missed the shot against the Bulls last night, it wouldn't have even amounted to a loss as the game was tied. There wasn't even pressure to lose on a missed shot.

Seriously... Why are people comparing being clutch on a single made shot in a tied series of the 2nd round to being as clutch as 6 for 6 in championship series. Freaking Lebron fans, ridiculously needy for approval and willing to make any claim to put Lebron on a pedestal. It's disgusting.

Jordan on going 6 for 6 in finals and having to come up clutch in game 7 of the finals....

"Game 7 of the finals, what's that?"

MJ finals success rate: 100%. 6 titles.

LJ finals success rate: 40%. 2 titles.

100 to 40 and 6 to 2. That's all you need to know when debating who is more clutch. Debate over.

MJ is so much more clutch than Lebron that he not only doesn't need to hit buzzer beaters to win, he doesn't even need full series to take out the best teams from the West while on the flip side of that, Lebron needed to water down his own conference to accomplish less. Even if I played along and said Lebron is as clutch as Jordan based off a couple made shots as opposed to multiple playoff series wins which takes far more time, effort and talent than throwing up a single shot... All I'd have to do is turn around and compare how much more dominant MJ is than Lebron like I just did and it eliminates any comparison of who is more clutch as it's not the guy who is 2 for 5 and had to destroy multiple teams in his own conference to even accomplish that. I'll take 6 for 6 as being more clutch than 2 for 5 any day. So would math. Lebron fans on the other hand, they'll take whatever they make up as fact. Why they no like maths, I never knows. Making 1 shot in game 4 of the 2nd round during a tied game and series = 6 for 6 in the finals to some people. Those people are insane, got no brain. What what in the butt for sure.

Are you drunk again, TOP?

A Game 4 where you tie the series to avoid being down 3-1 is almost as big as a Game 7. A team that gains a 3-1 series lead in the NBA goes on to win 96.4% of the time.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good ol'e fashioned hate fest from TOP. He's clearly unbiased to all things LeBron.

And also in love with Michael Jordan without ever seeing him play. It's all stories and legends, like Bo Jackson territory.

Younger people don't have a clue how MJ had to compromise the way he wanted to play. They think he was winning titles by playing the same way he did in the 80s.

Yesterday my 4 year old nephew was watching part of the Bulls game with me and he said "that's Michael Jordan's team" i said yeah it used to be, he said "my daddy told me". I asked if he knows who Lebron is, he said no.

You don't have to watch a player to know he's great, has Huff taught you nothing?

Nobody's "Legend" will ever beat Wilt. He killed a mountain lion with his bare hands, out benched Arnold, resurrected Christ, cured small pox, ate Hitlers heart, and ****ed all of North America.

Reminds me, the flip of that sort of happened. I asked an 8 YO who his favorite player was and he said Lebron. The weird thing about that was Lebron hadn't even played his senior year of HS. I was like, WTF?!

It illustrates how much pressure Lebron has been dealing with since he was a kid.

If you're talking about their peak performance the top modern, retired players are Magic, MJ, and Rodman, IMO, and I can't say any one is better than the other.

If you want to look at career body of work, I think you have to add Stockton to that list.

Shaq was a bad mofo especially his LA years, he was unstoppable down low. Bird was equal to Magic in his prime. IMO Admiral had a pretty amazing stretch too.

Yeah, won't argue on any of those. I do think the 3 I mentioned had longer peaks than those guys, though. But Robinson and Shaq are giants, and their peaks are going to be shorter, anyway.
