J.R Smith with fourteen, and I repeat FOURTEEN dang three point attempts HAHA. All of those threes was taken with J.R knowing he's only a 37.2% three point shooter for his entire career thus far. I really don't see his three point shooting percentage ever getting any better either, only worse due to adding more NBA seasons to his belt notch, and continual ageing. Seriously though, who does this fool think he is, STEPHEN FREAKING CURRY? I think not! There is an excellent reason Smith is a journeyman, and he always will be too. He's selfish, and he's not a team player by any means. He's all about himself, and his only care in the world is his own personal stats. He's just focused on trying to make himself look good is what it all comes down to. In his mind, the team can be damned as long as he gets his. Unfortunately the utmost important thing to him isn't actually winning. He's constantly committing turnovers and being charged with silly, unnecessary fouls too. The worst part is he's a whiner that's always yapping his mouth, plus jacking up bad, unopen shots all the dang time. Once he somehow makes one or two threes, especially if they're in a row, he's going to continue to shoot the same low percentage shots until he's benched.
The sad thing is, even if he's benched, Coach Blatt will have to put him right back in due to the CAVs only being able to play seven to eight players a game. Once Smith is inserted back into the game, he will pick right back up where he left off, taking bad shots, fouling, and turning the ball over. You would think after being benched he would change his approach to the game, but that's just not the case. All of the CAVs injuries has really taken a toll on them. You can tell they are all drained and void of energy. FWIW though, before the first game of the NBA Finals was played, I had Golden State winning this series in six games. This was even before the Kyrie Erving injury when the Cavs were still basically at full strength. After the injury I truly believed the Warriors would take this series in five games though. It turns out I was obviously wrong about that, but that's nothing new for me.
Hopefully the CAVs can win this next game at home on the 16th. LeBron is too old to do it all by himself now, but he will still need to play out of his mind to win. A few other players will have to step up and produce while playing quality minutes as well. I really want to see this Cleveland/GS series go the distance, a full seven games is ideal. I'm afraid LeBron and company won't have enough left in the tank to even make game six interesting and competitive though.
I believe the key to a game 6 CAVs victory may very well be Mozgov. He will need modest production along the lines of 10&10. I don't think that's too much to ask. How does the guy play over 9 mins tonight and not grab a single rebound or point? I wasn't able to watch all of tonight's game, just bits and pieces here and there, so maybe I'm missing something. Did he get injured? Thompson will need to put up numbers close to at least 15&10, and it would be awesome if Miller come come in a hit three or four timely three pointers. Shumperts usual production will be good enough. He just needs to play within himself and not try to do too much. Any production outside of the norm for Dellavedova will just be icing on the cake. Lastly but not least is LeBron James himself. He will need to put up numbers close to another triple double, if not actually get another one. I think he'll need to score 35 points minimum, while ditching out at least 10 assists and grabbing his fair share of rebounds too, especially while on defense. GS is great a getting offensive rebounds and getting second chances at scoring.
Just to clear everything up, and so everyone know's, I'm neither a Cavs fan nor a GS fan. I'm actually a Memphis fan. Since Memphis obviously isn't in the finals, I'm rooting for the Warriors. I just don't want to see LeBron win another ring.
