Exactly. Also, who says we can't reclaim Memphis? We're reclaiming Nashville area this year, why not Memphis too? Especially in a year like next year when there are some Memphis kids we could really use.

Reclaiming Nashville?

When did we lose Nashville?

Memphis might as well not be considered tennessee. Kinda far from Knoxville and closer to other schools. The vols get absolutely no positive things said about them in memphis.

There are ALOT of UT fans in Shelby County. Just don't know what you are talking about.

Simply not true about memphis. Tons of UT fans here. Don't go by how it's been the last 5 years. I've won many bets around here counting UT plates and stickers versus other teams. Due to location, which is understandable, it may have the least Vol fans than anywhere else in Tennessee but we are still the heavy majority.

Sorry, didn't see your post. You are right on. I am in the suburbs, and there are plenty of Vols fans. I jog in the neighborhood and sometimes see more new flags than before.

I am guessing that the Shelby County Alumni Group is top 5 in membership. That is just a guess, but Nashville and Atlanta may be the only ones that may have more (as far as one county or city).

As you say, you notice them more when we win. There hasn't been much media talk the last few years because we haven't been good.

I grew up in Knoxville. Now live in Memphis--and the level of Tennessee "fans" in Memphis is depressing. There are usually more Ole Miss, MSU, Arky, UofM, Alabama and even Vanderbilt fans than Tennessee fans. It's sad.

Doc- I don't know where you live or work. But, there are plenty here. I see alot of the same people on a regular basis for my work, and I see someone everyday that could talk UT sports. There are many, many home flags and car stickers in the suburbs. Just hasn't been vocal in the last few years.

I fly my flags every week here in Memphis. This city is the home of the bandwagon so the fans are irrelevant here.

They screwed Preston. Dude is top 50 at worst, but IMO top 10-20. Him and Campbell are 1-2 at WR for sure.

More like 2 hours, but I get your point. This whole area south of Athens is full of Bama and Georgia fans.

The local sports talk even does a "Inside the Tide" segment... This should never be part of a Tennessee radio broadcast.

I wonder if they were doing that segment prior to Saban's arrival at Bama? Or were there many Bama fans to be found walking around in the daylight?

This will change in the next 2 years. A lot of UT fans lying dormant during the Dooley years. Can't say I blame them.

You are probably one of the respectable people from the area. My point is there really isn't much there. Living in Chattanoga, driving south of the border is a let down.

East Tennessee and northeast georgia are almost identical. Same damn landscape, different sides of the mountains. In other words, kiss my ass

Yeah, I think reclaiming Nashville is a little over the top but we were losing the top guys over there the last couple of years. Part of it is that Dooley didn't pursue some of the top guys in Nashville, part of it is that the top guys in Nashville seemed like they wanted to go elsewhere. Either way, we didn't sign anyone from the Nashville area in 2012 or 2013. Unless you can't JRM from Clarksville, which is a stretch.

As soon as the Vols go 7-6 this year, the bandwagon Memphis and Chattanooga Tennessee fans will begin wearing their Power T's again. I for one have been wearing my apparel proudly for the last 5 years, but I did just graduate from UT in May.

Plenty of us still wearing our orange in 'Nooga...

And the only sports talk show with any actual audience is as big a TN homer as can be.

Very true... I live right on the Georgia Tennessee border in Trenton Georgia (dade county) there is absolutely nothing to do in north Georgia anywhere, all activities run through Chattanooga
