If Cecil Cherry is #187 on that list, there is 186 very nasty players out there. He is a beast, and if there is 186 better than him, and we are recruiting like we are now, The Future Is Very Bright!

Memphis might as well not be considered tennessee. Kinda far from Knoxville and closer to other schools. The vols get absolutely no positive things said about them in memphis.

I disagree, there are plenty of Tennessee fans in West Tennessee. Memphis is still part of the state of Tennessee. I have actually noticed more rival fans in Chattanooga than Memphis, having moved a year ago. Chattanooga is only an hour from Knoxville.

I grew up in Knoxville. Now live in Memphis--and the level of Tennessee "fans" in Memphis is depressing. There are usually more Ole Miss, MSU, Arky, UofM, Alabama and even Vanderbilt fans than Tennessee fans. It's sad.

More like 2 hours, but I get your point. This whole area south of Athens is full of Bama and Georgia fans.

The local sports talk even does a "Inside the Tide" segment... This should never be part of a Tennessee radio broadcast.

I see a lot of UT stickers on cars. But prob ten times more bama, ole miss, and miss state stickers. Used to see a lot of Florida stuff , not as much now.

All the inbreds from bummer move from N Ala to Chatt because even they have enough sense to know there's no future in that hole they live in. I think we should close the border! Still by far a majority of Vol fans make up Chatt but I'm sure the bandwagon red turd "fans" are out in force now!

I've lived in the area you mentioned for many a year, and I can tell you there is an alarming level of ignorance here, both sports wise and in general. Most feel the need to choose a team to represent themselves, as if choosing a hair style or wardrobe. So naturally, most pick whoever is winning, so they can feel like winners too. They decorate their vehicles and wear the shirts and caps, acting like diehard fans when they really don't have a clue about that team. Quite a funny spectacle.

As far as the media issue, that all started in the year 2000. Literally over night, all the local media went from pro-UT to almost anti-UT, and made efforts to include UT's rival fans, especially Georgia and Bama, to build their audience. Their timing couldn't have better.

So its safe to say there is a lot of bandwagon fans in the state of Tennessee?
Exactly. Also, who says we can't reclaim Memphis? We're reclaiming Nashville area this year, why not Memphis too? Especially in a year like next year when there are some Memphis kids we could really use.

That may be true but i believe I've read that Shelby County produces more UT enrollees second only to Knox. It's an important part of the state. Lots of VOL faithful out there... Residual from the glory days but they are there.

Any-who back on point.... That's a good recruiting base developing for the ole Butcher. Reel em in!

Apparently ESPN is still evaluating players tape with their eyes closed again. If there are 50 players in high school better than Preston Williams then college football is about to get the greatest class of freshmen we have ever seen. More or less 180 players.

As soon as the Vols go 7-6 this year, the bandwagon Memphis and Chattanooga Tennessee fans will begin wearing their Power T's again. I for one have been wearing my apparel proudly for the last 5 years, but I did just graduate from UT in May.

Simply not true about memphis. Tons of UT fans here. Don't go by how it's been the last 5 years. I've won many bets around here counting UT plates and stickers versus other teams. Due to location, which is understandable, it may have the least Vol fans than anywhere else in Tennessee but we are still the heavy majority.
