2015 Depth chart predictions...yes, I'm bored

Just a few observations OP. Peterman is probably a transfer. Ev Berry will stay at safety. Kendrick will be at RT and Kerbyson should move back to his natural position of OG. Thomas will play center. On defense Lewis and Vickers are DE's. Swafford will probably stay at safety and Foreman at CB. I think Gaulden will be the nickel.

I think Maggitt will be moved to MLB. He looked good playing there against Iowa in the bowl game.

Would be a great move if Bryant isn't an upgrade and 1 of Johnson and Bynum doesn't make a big jump.

Vereen is a starting caliber DE and Phillips and Butcher being EE's helps add depth at DE as well.

I personally still like Maggit in his Hybrid role. He was very productive in the second half of the season and will be fully comfortable this year in that same role. He gives us a ton of versatility on D as a hybrid.

I like what you got, and looking at the roster, you can tell we're already majorly improved all over, compared to trying to play these depth-chart games with Dooley's personnel.

I would have thought JRM could move to MLB but I think Kirkland locks that spot down fast, especially being an EE. Either way, I think we are stacked at the linebacker position.

I'd like to see him stay at rush end too but we have more depth at DE than we do MLB.

Owen Williams. Juco guy that came in last season. Was the 3rd guy in the rotation at DT behind Williams and O'Brien. Is a freak in the weight room and played well when his role increased. Should be penciled in as a starter until mckenzie and tuttle get acclimated.

That's crazy! Been a Vol fan 53 years. I have not been this excited since winning chorion ship in 98.. Way to go butch.. It's all about recruiting top notch talent to compete in the sec. How many times fulmer wished he could do things over. Stay the course Butch Jones don't let up! Beat 100 to 0 .. Put the fear of GOD in our opponents.

Here's my three-deep from a post earlier this week in a different thread, updated to account for Peterman's apparent transfer. I'm assuming all of our freshman offensive lineman (J. Jones, C. Hall, Z. Stewart, V. Boulware, and maybe P. Allen and T. St. Louis) will redshirt, so they're not included. That's probably too conservative, as one of our early enrollee tackles (Jones or Hall) might win a starting job.

Newcomers in bold.

Position: Starter (Backups)

QB: J. Dobbs (Q. Dormady, J. Jennings (RS) / S. Jones (RS))
RB: J. Hurd (A. Kamara, K. Bussey / B. Love)
WR1: M. North (P. Williams, J. Croom)
WR2: V. Pearson (J. Malone, J. Smith)
WR3/Slot: P. Howard (V. Wharton, J. Johnson)
TE: E. Wolf (A. Ellis, N. Creamer)
LT: D. Blair (K. Kerbyson, A. Sanders)
LG: M. Jackson (B. Kendrick, D. Weisman)
C: M. Crowder (C. Thomas)
RG: J. Robertson (B. Kendrick, D. Weisman, Z. Stewart)
RT: K. Kerbyson (A. Sanders, R. Raulerson)

WDE: C. Maggitt (C. Vereen, L. Lewis)
DT: K. McKenzie (S. Tuttle)
DT: O. Williams (D. O'Brien, D. Mixon)
SDE: D. Barnett (K. Phillips, A. Butcher)
WOLB: C. Weatherd (J. Reeves-Maybin, C. Maggitt)
MLB: J. Reeves-Maybin (D. Kirkland Jr., K. Bynum, G. Bryant)
SOLB: D. Bates, (J. Reeves-Maybin, J. Johnson)
CB1: C. Sutton (J. Martin, D. Miller)
CB2: E. Moseley, (M. Abernathy, D. Payne)
Nickel: R. Gaulden (El. Berry, J. Bruce)
FS: B. Randolph (T. Kelly Jr., Ev. Berry)
SS: T. Kelly Jr. (L. McNeil, D. Swafford)

K: A. Medley
P: T. Townsend
KR: Ev. Berry (B. Love)
PR: C. Sutton (V. Wharton)

Depending on how linebacker shakes out, we could have the best defense in the SEC. Our offense will be anywhere from "above average" to "great" depending on Dobbs and the offensive line.

We might be the SEC East favorite folks.

All this has me wondering...where is Gavin Bryant? RS this year? I don't recall reading anything about him either. Has anyone said he looks good in practice?
