Hurd is gonna be a recruiting war. Seems like he's priority #1 at RB for at least tOSU, UF and UT.

Butch Jones talks about locking down Tennessee in recruiting well Rivals 2014 has 6 Tennessee kids in the Rivals 250 listed in no particular order.

Vic Wharton DB (Nashville-Independence) - Commit-UT
Josh Malone WR (Gallatin)
Jalen Hurd RB (Herdersonviile)
Todd Kelly Jr DB (Knox-Webb)
Petera Wilson LB (Memphis-White Station)
Alex Bars OL (Nashville-Montgomery Bell Academy)

If we could get all 6 of these kids this would be a great place to start, some positions of need!!!! GBO!!!!!

247 Sports has Wharton as the 15th best in TN?
The Memphis kids are the ones I worry about the most.

Completely incorrect. I live in Hendersonville and Jalen is without a doubt considering UT. He has been pretty vocal in making that known and Coach Jones is making up for Dooley's lack of effort. Jalen tweeted last week that he got into the car with his mom and asked her who she was talking too. She replied "shhhhh, its Coach Jones!". Jones has been on BHS's campus several times already and Hurd will be in Knoxville for Jr Day later this month.

Its being speculated that his top teams at this point are Ohio St, Florida, Bama, UT, and Vandy.

I too live in Hendersonville. My daughter graduated from BHS and my nephew who also graduated from there played on the BHS football team with Hurd. There is defininately an Interest in UT. He is interested in several schools, but I would say right now at least, UT tops the list.

Would be great if CBJ could close this one out soon, but I don't think this is going to be a quick close. The young man is just to good to not at least look at other options that are sure to come his way.

It's going to take 3-4 Top 10-15 classes in a row for us to get back to where we can actually put a solid product on the field. I think next years class is where it starts, as much as i hate to say this...as fans we have got to be patient

This kid should be priority #1, plain and simple. I've seen him play and he is a bad@$$. Someone also posted about AJ Long, who I also have seen play and he is a good athlete.

So did I, and I know the family. Your post is ignorant.

There seems to be some confusion on the board regarding Hurd, so let me see if I can clear up some misconceptions. Yes, I am close to the family and this is not speculation.

The family (the whole family - mom, aunts, uncles, grandparents, great.... you get the picture) are very much Vol fans. There is nowhere that they would rather have him go to college than Tennessee. Yet in the beginning, Dooley (being the super douche that he is) acted very uninterested in Hurd. We all thought that TN would be all over him since he's a hometown kid, but they really weren't at the time. So that pretty much turned them away from UT. Why are you going to be interested in a school that doesn't act interested in you, right? While during this, you had other coaches (like Meyer) that has been recruiting him like crazy.

No worries though, CBJ has come in like the calvary, and Hurd is now VERY excited about the thought of being a VOL again! He is going up to catch the UK game on the 16th, but he is spending one on one time with the staff on the 17th. IF CBJ can turn this program around and make great strides, I believe that he will be a VOL! He graduates early and will enroll early, so that could pull a lot of other recruits too.

As for his current size, he is 6'3 and has bulked up to 222 lbs. He swears that he will be 230 lean when the season starts, and I believe it. It's nuts. The kid carries food around school with him all day and doesn't stop eating.

If we can score him, he will be a program changer!

Obviously, my post isn't ignorant considering I'm referring to his interest in UT when Dooley was coach. I said it could change and apparently it has according to this poster.

It's ridiculous the treatment you get on Vol Nation when someone tried to post legitimate information. Everyone gets called troll and ignorant when what I reported was true.

And I know his family too.

Yeah where'd you get Ensworth? Was at CPA before transferring to Independence this year. Seen him play Bball and wondering about his character a little bit. Maybe not, talented kid.
Watching a BB game does not give one insight to a person's character. Please refrain from bashing so early in the game.

I have connections to Hurd---I teach here and I am friends with the coaching staff. To say he isn't interested in UT completely discredits you from any further discussion on VolNation. Good Day.

He wasn't interested in UT. Clearly the situation has changed since my info. Didn't mean to misinform or "troll"

I do not know Hurd or his family but if he has a pulse and lives in Tennessee he has interest in the Vols. Oh and Urban sucks. That is all.

Sorry, but you never said "when Dooley was coach" in you original post. The treatment you got was brought on by your neglect to mention this. You brought it on yourself.

^TRUE

Had he said "When Dooley was here" I would have completly understood. Apparently there was an epedemic of lost interest while DD was here. From former players and recruits alike. Different times now.

They are onto Matthew Pyke from Anderson County as well..I've seen him play..if RB needs a hole...he will make one. He did very well at the Army All-American Combine.

If we clean house on in-state recruiting we will easily finish number 1 in recruiting. All of those players listed are likely to be number 1 in their positions and in the top 100.

not even close,it will take more than Tn kids to get to #1

The numbers in Tennessee for 2014 are outstanding. Hopefully this will become the standard rather than the exception.

It's really great to see how far the Nashville area is coming along in developing talent. UT absolutely has to lock this area down. I suspect with a booming population it will only become a more fertile ground for big-time talent.
