14 Recruiting Roster.JPG

NOTE: The class under which each player is assigned corresponds to the 2013 season.

This is my first thread and my first attachment so I hope this goes well. This is my procrastination project I have been working on.

As far as I can tell, the spreadsheet is accurate, but any and all recommendations or corrections, especially regarding readability, are welcomed. I hope this gives everyone an idea of what the team will look like next year. I have only included scholarship players that are expected to retain scholarships(i.e. Toney and Carter).

I have other spreadsheets that include a base roster with 247 Composite Rankings. I will list a few interesting takeaways below:

  • There are only 32 players recruited solely under Dooley left.
  • The 86 player total consists of 2 5*, 26 4*, 56 3*, and 2 walk-ons.
  • Of the 26 4*, 17 were recruited by Butch with 13 in the 2014 class alone.
  • Both 5* recruits hail from this class.
  • The roster stands to have only 11 OL, but 19 DL so expect some position changes.
  • Currently we stand at 86 expected scholarship players so something has to give.
  • Butch is a beast!

EDIT: Changed to black and white.

Great job and I would print this off, however.................it would use half a color print cartridge to get all that yellow in. Change it to black and white. Just a thought. Love the hard work.

You misunderstand. This is a recruiting roster meaning this is the 2013 roster with which the 2014 recruiting class is recruited under. Notice the graduating seniors and the fact that there are any players in the freshmen column at all. I'll make a note of it in the OP.

I have a 2015 version ready to go as soon as signing day is over, which will have the 2014 roster including all of the new commits.

John Probst is a TE?

The last time I checked the official roster on UT's website he was, but I think that was a late switch due to the injuries we had there. Nevertheless, he has graduated and moved which doesn't effect the final numbers for either the LB or TE position.

To be fair to you, the slow clap was a sarcasm thing in Seinfeld and SNL at one point

That's more what I was thinking, as i'm one of those people who can see a Seinfeld-moment in anything.

Regardless, what I said was more of a smart-arse comment anyway, so, I'll accept that and apologize.

No biggie. Anyways great job OP. It helps seeing everything laid out like that.

Thanks all. I like having everything laid out where I can see it. I figured why not share my work.

One thing I domt understand is how people are so worried about dline. We don't have many stars but we have 19 solid athletes in the roster.

Good Job OP I like having stuff broke down like that. In the '16 class will we only have 11 spots not counting attrition? That could be bad especially with a 20 man '15 class.

Also Tiny is missing but he's gone so no biggie

I went ahead and removed any underclassmen who had left to make sure the final numbers would be right for next year, which includes Tiny, Harris, Thomas, and whoever else I'm forgetting.

Actually I am much more worried about next year's class. Next Thursday, I'll post next year's roster and you will see that we only have 13 seniors graduating next year. So at least 7 players will be told to look elsewhere just to reach 20 scholarships for next class. I am sure it will all work out though.

There is just too many uncertainties to guess at 2016, but right now we have 17 players slotted to graduate that year.

the 2 columns for juniors and sophs versus the incoming column is a prety stark contrast
