2014 OH DT Daniel Cage

Yeah well, he'd probably commit to us for about 11 months & then right before signing day, he'd de-commit & sign with Ohio State, Penn State or Texas. I think that's about the norm on how our recruiting goes around here. You can't get too excited about recruits these days. I'd love to have him as a Volunteer & all but you never know where these kids end up.

Hard to think about any recruits till we get our coaching situation solidified.

Throughout his junior season, defensive lineman Daniel Cage has picked up four offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Tennessee and Minnesota. Right now, Cage says that two schools are standing out.

“Tennessee and Minnesota are at the top. Tennessee is a great program with big facilities and has what I want. And it’s the same with Minnesota.”

Cage is also hearing from several new schools. “Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Boston College have been talking to me recently.”

The junior will be participating in the Army All-American combine in January, but once that‘s over, he’s hoping to start taking visits.

“I definitely want to visit Ohio State, Minnesota, Tennessee and Notre Dame.”

While he still has awhile to go in his recruitment, Cage does know what the most important factors when it comes down to his decision will be.

“The location will matter to me. I don’t want to go too far from him. Then I’ll also look at what they have to offer educationally, the football program and how well the school is represented.”

Well, he's familiar with the staff, and is from their former backyard. We need to seal the deal and get him on board. Anyone know if he's coming for Junior Days?

Another name to keep an eye on is four-star defensive tackle prospect and Cincinnati, Ohio, native Daniel Cage. The Winton Woods (Ohio) High School star told InsideTennessee.com via text message there is definitely some mutual interest between the two parties since Butch Jones and his staff arrived on Rocky Top. That interest has been intensified by the relationship already established during the staff's time at Cincy. Cage is ranked as the No. 4 defensive tackle in the country in the 2014 class according to FOX Sports NEXT and would address a serious need for the Vols in 2015 given the pending departures of Daniel McCullers and Daniel Hood.
