After hosting its first junior day of the year just two weeks ago, Tennessee coach Butch Jones staff is scheduled to hold the second of its three scheduled junior days Saturday.
Five-star all-purpose back Taj Griffin of Powder Springs, Ga., is ranked the nation's No. 25 overall prospect in the 2015 class.
An even bigger turnout is expected this time.
At least a few dozen prospects, including almost 20 players who already have received scholarship offers from Tennessee, are scheduled to travel to Knoxville on Saturday for a junior day that will allow them to attend at least a portion of the Vols basketball game against Vanderbilt.
The group of visitors is expected to be headlined by five-star junior all-purpose back Taj Griffin of McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga., and Top247 junior defensive end Kyle Phillips of Hillsboro High School in Nashville, Tenn., one of Tennessees top in-state targets in the 2015 class.
Griffin, whos ranked the nations No. 25 overall prospect and No. 1 all-purpose back by 247Sports, holds more than 25 offers, while the Vols have emerged as one of the early favorites for Phillips, the states No. 3 overall player in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
A couple of other uncommitted Top247 prospects running back Michael Weber of Cass Technical High School in Detroit, defensive end DAndre Walker of Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Ga. are scheduled to be in attendance, along with four-star linebacker Quarte Sapp of Milton (Ga.) High School and four-star running back Nick Gibson of Pinson Valley High School in Pinson, Ala.
Three-star wide receiver TJ Rahming of Powder Springs, Ga., three-star lineman Joshua Alabi of Detroit and three-star defensive tackle Quentez Johnson of Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Ga., are among the other early Tennessee targets in the 2015 class who are expected to travel to Knoxville on Saturday.
The Vols also are scheduled to host a handful of prospects who could be on the verge of receiving offers from Tennessee, including four-star defensive tackle Quay Picou of Buford (Ga.) High School and three-star defensive end Trevon Hill of Virginia Beach, Va.
A pair of three-star linebackers from Georgia who have drawn early interest from Tennessee, Austin Smith and Montavious Atkinson, are among the other expected visitors from the 2015 class, along with UT commitments Jack Jones, Zach Stewart and Andrew Butcher.
The list of expected visitors even includes some of Tennessees early targets in the 2016 class, including quarterback Austin Kendall of Charlotte, N.C., athlete Gabe Angel of Cookeville, Tenn., and running back Robert Washington of Huntersville, N.C.
Several other 2016 prospects who already are drawing interest from major-conference programs are scheduled to visit Tennessee on Saturday, including running back/linebacker Daelin Hayes of West Bloomfield, Mich., athlete Elijah Deveaux of Charlotte, N.C., and linebacker Ethan Tucky of Delaware, Ohio.
The Vols also are expected to host at least a couple of 2017 prospects, including offensive lineman Josh Myers of Miamisburg, Ohio, and 2017 wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones of Detroit.
Heres a complete list of the scheduled visitors govols247 has confirmed for Saturdays junior day. As always, this list is subject to change, and it likely doesnt include every prospect who will visit Tennessee on Saturday.
