Sorta like Joshua Dobbs to ASU?

And here’s what I think with what we got so far is going to happen:

SDE: Jordan Williams, Jaylen Miller*, Kendal Vickers, Dewayne Hendrix, Cory Thomas
UT: Trevarris Saulsberry, Jason Carr, Greg Clark, Charles Mosley
NT**: Owen Williams, Danny O’Brien, Derek Barnett, Dimarya Mixon
LEO: Corey Vereen, LaTroy Lewis, Malik Brown, Joe Henderson

That’s more or less the cast of characters they have going into next year, at something like their probable position. Maybe. Perhaps.

*Game is very similar to Lambert’s
**Still bugs me that Daniel Hood was playing at around 277 last year as the nose tackle-doesn’t seem right somehow

As much as I appreciate Hood's effort at UT, I don't think with this staff we will have to worry about project DTs like him moving forward.

Miller is listed at 6'2" 240. Lambert was listed at 285. How exactly are they similar?
This staff needs to focus on developing what they have. Carr, Miller, Brown, Obrien, Saulsberry, Williams, Vickers. Carson and Clark still show on the roster at DT. I think one of those two was getting a good amount of PT after Saulsberry was hurt.
I think they were really only interested in JUCO linemen who were EEs. I can see why. Couch was a 5-star JUCO. Was a Fall enrollee and really didn't contribute much until later in the year. Just seems to be a trend that DTs come in fat and out of shape. One thing I'm confident in is CBJs S&C program, as well as the system of player accountability. Will be exciting to see what year two looks like in that regard.

Yeah I never thought something was right about this either. From what I know, even in the hybrid 4-3 we run the NG is still supposed to be the bigger guy and the DT is the lighter disruptor type. Hood wasn't a bad player, but he wasn't likely to draw double teams at the nose the way Big Dan did.

If I'm Butch and Co., I put the full court press on Andrew Williams. He would make a nice addition to that already spectacular D-line class.

It was Clark and I thought he was doing a decent job. People will call me crazy but I thought he was getting more push than big Dan.

Considering that Dan appeared to get more pull than push, no one should call you crazy.

"So, where does Tennessee turn on the defensive line? Immediately, there's not a clear answer. Don't look for Tennessee to go after unsigned juco defensive linemen Calvin Heurtelou or Lance McDowdell.

Tennessee will look at May junior college graduates but there's a sense the staff really doesn't want to go that way unless it's an upper-tier guy and there doesn't seem to be that many out there like that.

Tennessee will certainly try with several high school defensive linemen, but like with junior college guys, don't just expect this staff to take a lineman just to take one, especially with the class they do have assembled.

Don't be surprised if they take a run at a Texas commitment or two along the defensive line with Mack Brown headed out.

The thing to really watch for here is how the coaching dominoes begin to fall once someone is hired at Texas. That is likely to set off an assistant coach bonanza as well with guys moving from place to place and Tennessee could seemingly get back in with a guy or two that has been committed. We believe that is certainly something to keep a close eye one once the dominoes fall."

Henderson and Roberson I would guess would definitely be hearing from us?

I would prefer we sign Jihad Ward because he looks like John Henderson 2.0, but unfortunately I doubt he appreciates being our "plan B" and the racist jokes throughout his Volnation thread.

Clark and Mosely are the NTs given their size and Barnett and Mixon would be the UTs given their athleticism. Other than that it looks good.

What I would think, then I watch a game and McCullers is over the guard and Hood is right in front of the center. There was a video where Strip was talking about using McCullers in places that weren’t NT. I thought is was weird then, but everybody’s doing this now.

Alabama is sticking their nose on the right tackle so everybody’s doing weird stuff where the offense has difficulty realigning.

Their film...is...similar. Miller actually lost 25 lbs. in the Spring. Played at 265 as a Senior, and Lambert played at 275 as a Sophomore. I don’t know where that 285 number comes from.

I think they were really only interested in JUCO linemen who were EEs. I can see why. Couch was a 5-star JUCO. Was a Fall enrollee and really didn't contribute much until later in the year.

Couch was also a redshirt Sophomore when he came here. 3 for 3 guy. Not a traditional JUCO.
