2014 Damn NBA Playoffs Thread

I wonder which was the aberration - last night or the other three games? Spurs will finish these damn pretenders tomorrow.

A one game wonder nothing more than that.
Bulls had the same thing vs the heat last season in the 2nd round in game one.

Considering they were picked to lose to the rockets and didn't, rockets are damn pretenders.
Tblazers are a young team that that is going to have a lot more growing pains. They aren't damn pretenders that would be a sorry ass bucks team that sucked more than a leaf blower, ant eater, and a dirt devil vacuum combined vs the heat and I'm talking about last years playoffs.

Tblazers aren't title contenders thunder, clippers, heat, spurs, possibly pacers are but that doesn't automatically make them freakin pretenders.

I would say yeah favorable but not hugely favorable considering the spurs have a recent resume of choking, and choked in a game 6 needing 7 games to beat a mavericks team that most experts said mavericks couldn't make it interesting.

You don't think it's real during a stretch of a game where a team goes on say, a 17-5 run or something like that?

I'd agree it doesn't have much to do on a game to game basis but I wouldn't say there's absolutely zero carryover from the game before. If team A is dominating team B a few games in a row, it has to have an affect & take it's toll on each team mentally. Team A rides the momentum & continues to play well, while team B continues to play like ish & sucks it up. A lot of it is between the ears.

Or Team A gets complacent and Team B uses the bad taste of the losing streak to fuel a turnaround and the momentum wasn't real.

I think the term "momentum" is invoked within a game after one team has been careless with the ball, or one team has made an adjustment that the other team hasn't adjusted to yet...it appears to be momentum, but really it's just a better strategy at play, or a lack of focus, or any number of things. If you adjust and play the right strategy, what happens to the momentum?

To me momentum means the outcome of one play (positive or negative) means a similar play is more likely happen next. I don't think that's true. For every good play that's followed by a good play, there is 1 followed by a bad play. For every 3 good plays followed by a good play, there are 3 followed by a bad play.
