No dude you see this is the Class of 2013 cause Class of 2012 just graduated and they have joined the team. Making them last years class. Which makes Class of 2011 two years ago. Got it?:good!:

Class of 2011 is last years class. Class of '12 is this years class. '13 is next years class. So yes. Yes they are from last years class.

Problem is that you dweebs are *****ing about some players that haven't even played their Sr years yet, and about some players that have yet to play one down in a practice at the college level.

I don't look at it that way. Class of 2012 is already enrolled in school and started football workouts so I don't consider them "this year's class". They are last year's news. UT is actively recruiting kids from the 2013 class right now. Either way it doesn't matter, nobody in this thread has argued against the fact that A.J. and Curt will be good football players. The issue is UT's LB recruiting from last year's class (2012 class) and this year's class (2013 class) so far has been unimpressive.

News to me that class of 2012 has all joined the team.
Also news to most that UT class of 2011 isn't last years class, and that the ones signed this year, in 2012, are not this years class.

Please give me more fuzzy math.

Good to know your expertise on players that haven't played a down of college football yet. Call it whatever year you want.

He has only coached all pro, college AA, all sec and future pros with NC rings.

I'm sure the people on here with no knowledge of anything outside of what they read, know more. Isn't that obvious.

who recruited or bought his players?
lol
another bama >>>sorry man bama worshiper
nothing they do in bama is wrong...right? lol

You are discouraged because recruiting sites disagree on LB talent evals with a guy who just coached on Bama's NC teams and with Jon Fox in the NFL?

Seems you'd be more concerned about trusting those sites.

Look there are plenty of good coaches & talent evals at other bigtime programs too. I am sure those guys are searching for under the radar players as well. Our guys didnt get looks for obvious reasons.

I agree with the OP.

LB recruiting hasn't been anything to brag about the last two cycles. Dooley did a great job landing Johnson and Maggit in the 2011 cycle, but last year's LB haul was not good. This year's doesn't look much better besides Vereen. I like his game.

All UT fans keep on with the "let's trust Sal's evaluations, UT coaches know way more about talent than you, etc." arguments. Obviously UT's coaches know more about evaluating talent than VN posters do, but that doesn't change the fact UT isn't getting elite LBs. UT is missing on the elite, high-level LBs and I think Sal is realizing that and having to settle for LBs that aren't quite as talented. Does that mean UT LB commits are terrible or that I don't think Sal can evaluate talent? No, it means I think Sal and UT's defensive staff are having to settle when it comes to LB recruiting. Everybody on here was talking about how Christian Harris was an underrated LB recruit and was going to surprise some people and he hasn't done anything yet. Given, he has plenty of time to do so, I just don't see it happening.

Besides Vereen, what offers do UT LB commits have? Campbell I don't believe has any, Barnes is holding down the fort with a Southern Miss and Furman offers, and I believe Zanca has a Purdue offer. That is really it. Given, they have the rest of the summer to go to camps and gain offers. But, I don't want UT to continually pick up LB recruits that are "underrated, under the radar type guys that other major colleges don't want anything to do with.

Maybe I am just greedy, but I would like UT to sign LBs that have offers from every major college across the country by the end of their junior year/begginning of summer before their senior season, NOT LBs that have 2 mid-major offers in July that have to try to go through camp circuits to get any more offers. I know every now and then some players do get overlooked and I understand that, but for the most part, the big-time studs don't get overlooked too often.

I want UT to be a winning football team again. I want UT to have kick-ass defenses again. Nothing personal, but I don't see UT winning championships again with the caliber of LBs currently committed. Just my opinion. I think Sal is good at evaluating talent, but at this point there aren't too many elite LBs knocking down the door. UT needs to win this year and surprise some people and then I think UT can quit settling for talent and start to pick up better talent.

* I am ready for the bashing I am about to receive for this. *

To state the obvious, UT needs to actually WIN a friggin game or two, before the 5* guys are going to consider our team. We one a SINGLE SEC game last year.

When and if we come out and actually beat some teams other than Buffalo and Northeast Mississippi Polytechnic Institute for the Blind, Deaf and Dumb, recruiting the school sells itself.

“If the top 10 schools offer a kid, he is a 4-star or 5-star,” Lemming said. “It comes down to offers, not ability. Look at the NFL draft. How many 5-star players are selected in the first round? Not many. Recruiting ratings are arbitrary, just one way to rate players.”

Of course. Why prepare for the future? We should just wait until their senior year to find someone to replace them.

I mean, why should we want to get talent on this football team. That seems absurd.

The 2011 WR class has officially been a bust after the Dallas move.

No OL in 2012.

That should make people just a little concerned about recruiting. You can't just take 4 guys one year at a spot then none the next.

Maggitt and AJ both look to be studs. That's great. Now, who's behind them? Crump and Harris? A converted FB? 3 freshmen?

Agree. I like better position balance in classes, and that's why I don't love taking 6 linebackers in this class.

Question: people are bashing C Harris. Yet they are praising the class of linebackers with AJ and Maggitt. Do they not realize they are the same class?

Are you currently playing college football? What year are you? What position? Thanks

Are we recruiting "tweeners" who are a great fit for a 3-4?

Why do we have 4 low/unrated/unoffered commits at the position of greatest need?

why are u asking vol nation?you need to direct your question to HCDD and he will tell you all you need to know.:)

Because the coaches especially Coach Sal got them on campus and evaluated them in person and lliked what they saw and offered I turst the coaches fully when it comes to talent evaluation

so that's it basically what i thought.

very discouraging imo

I'm sure Coach Sal is very concerned about your discouragement in his ability to evaluate talent.

what discourages me is we are the only ones who think they are any good.

it makes you wonder when other big schools dont bring them in and scout them. I guarantee saban, muschamp, richt, kiffen, spurrier, stoops, etc are madder then hell that they missed out on UT's current linebacker recruits.
