2013 Current Commits/Targets (UPDATED)

On the current roster, you have 7 scholarship WRs, one of whom was a walk-on this time last year. They need 12.

There are 10 offensive linemen on the current roster. 4 of whom are will be Seniors, one of whom will be an All-World NFL-caliber Junior and flight risk. The team needs 15 offensive linemen, and they usually take two years to develop.

So, no, I don’t wish those two die-hard, VFLs should look around so that we can get some REALLY AWESOME TALENT that makes it ALMOST through one full school year before completely failing out of college.

-We have a lot more OL and Wrs on board than front 7
- I hope these two surprise me but based on the competition they have faced in high school, it will be years before they contribute
- In all honesty this roster is the weakest in the SEC and is in dire need of impact players

green, foster, bell, north, bryant commits would land vols around 15 in recruiting

I like your thinking and I assume your talking about Derrick Green and Ruben Foster. I think if we got just those two we would probably be in the top 15, given the fact that they are 5 stars on Rivals. If we get M. North, V. Bell and K. Bryant too then definately top 15 maybe even top 12. I've also noticed that C. Lawson is an AU recruit and happens to be visiting W/ R. Foster hopefully we could snag him too, that would really set us up for top ten. Maybe i'm just too optimistic but I think we have good chance at getting 3 five star recruits in this class. All this said i usually dont put much into star rating, I believe more in developement than anything, but the raw talent doesn't hurt.
See C. Patterson.

There are 11 open slots at WR and OL. The six openings at WR are being filled with Harris, Jenkins, and Smith (who you want to get rid of). There are 5 openings at OL, being filled by Skipper (who’s looking around), Wiesman, Sanders, and Kendrick (another player you want to get rid of). Since math is not your strongest subject, it appears, that leaves 3 open spaces at WR. And I mentioned Skipper’s shaky commitment, that could mean that there will be two open slots by the end of January.

And since history is obviously not one of your strongest subjects, the reason we’re in this mess is because of years of not taking enough WRs and OLs. But great idea, cut the guys who want to be here to bring in guys...like Taylor and Phillips...who don’t wanna be here. Great idea.

I am not sure why you are getting angry and resorting to insults? Math is my strong subject, I have an MBA in Finance and am a Director in Retail Finance at age 30. More than your Redneck *ss can say. I realize WRs and OL are extreme positions of need!

Simply say I would like to see a class resembling:
4 WRs (North + another, drop Smith)
5 OL (Memphis and JC guy in place of Kendrick)
6 Dbs
2 TEs
1 QB
2 RB
4 DL (3 more, drop Sanders)
3 LBs

Sure it won't shake out this way, but can only hope

Well, there’s a life-long dream fulfilled, I’ve finally been called a redneck! Only took 41 years.

Anyways, not looking like I’ll be able to talk sense and reason here, so might as well not even bother.

You can bet that Smith and Kendrick will be a part of this class. It would make ZERO sense for CBJ to talk about making the state of Tennessee his #1 priority in recruiting then cut loose a couple local long time commits. It's just not going to happen.

This. It doesn't matter what the current staff thinks of them, they are locks. Dooley accepted their commits, so they will have a spot. If Dooley had not recruited them, then the staff could fairly evaluate them themselves and decide whether or not to offer, but since they are already committed, you cannot cut them without risking the alienation of HS coaches across the state. Alienating the HS coaches would hurt far more than giving schollies to two kids that may or may not pan out. Hopefully they come in and surprise us.

1. Who would you rather have: Green, Kamara, Ford or Kemp?

2. Who do we have the best chance of getting?

3. Any chance we get more than one?

Really though, it's incredible how ridiculously strident some posters are in saying that CBJ is "still recruiting at Cincy," even though he's got us in on more top talent that Dools could despite only being on the job for a little over a month.

Its just funny cause its the same people having the sane argument in every thread.

What happened to the Shelton Gibson thread? I know he visited OSU this past weekend and was looking for any word on how that went and whether he was still coming this weekend.
