Why are you guys attacking the OP? The guy is just being optimistic (perhaps overly optimistic). No reason to bash the guy and throw around insults. Why would you care that a fellow Vol fan is talking up YOUR team? I don't think we win ten games either, but a little "sunshine pumping" never hurt anyone.

Who exactly do you think DS is? He's not Dave Hart. Whatever he thinks of Dooley is completley irrelevant. He will neither hire nor fire Dooley, nor be involved with the decision.

If your administration has ever made a decision based on message board banter, then your administration is (or has been) the most inept and pathetic administration at any college, anywhere.

Dooley walked into a **** sandwich. We've had freshmen and sophomores competing against the best competition in the land for his last two years....he's suffered some tough breaks against LSU and UNC in the Music City Screwover, and this past year's schedule was simply grueling. There was NO coach that could have done anything better with what we had vs what we were up against. The fact that we came out of the Vandy game with a W is actually surprising.

We can agree to disagree on some points, but we'll find out soon enough what Dooley is made of.

When times are tough, and everyone knows it, just get to work...quit giving excuses, we're all aware.

He had better beat NC State and Florida out of the gate. If not, quit delaying the inevitable and go make an actual SEC hire.

During the American Revolution, people criticized George Washington non-stop. Said he can't lead an army. We'll never be able to compete with the British....we have no chance for victory, etc.....it's easy to be negative when things look like they do right now. But where would America be if we fired George Washington? I put it to you----WHERE WOULD TENNESSEE BE IF WE FIRED DEREK DOOLEY? (end overly dramatic sarcasm)

You're right, this is serious business...the fate of Dooley and the program depends on VN's ability to attract big time recruits.

Back-to-back losing seasons, high coaching turnover, and a decade of irrelevance makes up 99% of the recruiting issues. To believe negative internet fodder plays any significant role is utter nonsense.

It's not just VN. It's your entire mode of thinking that VN happens to be one major outlet to express it. Think about how many Vol fans read these boards throughout the season and go to the games.....you don't think that negativity influences their outlook on the Vols---which will influence their conversations with other Vol fans that may influence their outlook etc----

I'm sorry but maybe you just don't have that same big picture thinking....but it's for real. You don't think Hamilton was reacting to the grumblings of the fanbase when he fired Coach Fulmer???? That is the definition of a knee-jerk reaction.
