Who is the best white USA men's baller in the past 30 years?

Most people say Larry, I really liked Stockton. Unselfish team player. He's what a point guard is supposed to be IMO.

After that gold medal game, Bryant's comments about this team being better than the Dream Team become even more laughable. This team has great talent, but the DT had great talent with great experience.

You're entitled to your opinion...

But Bird was a baller. Period.

Before him, Pistol Pete.

Not knocking Bird and I love Pistol Pete, but Stockton is the NBA's all time assist leader and all time steals leader. He averaged a double double in ppg-apg for his career. He scored when he needed to score but his mentality was always pass first and get the easy basket. IMO he gets overlooked because he didn't have the spotlight Bird had. There was always the Larry Bird/Magic Johnson rivalry that put attention on LB, but Stockton made players around him better which didn't earn him a spotlight. Karl Malone owes a great deal of his success to Stockton. The guy was the penultimate point guard, perhaps the best to ever play the game, but because he played without flash, people dismiss him. He let his play talk for him, unlike most great athletes of today.

Not untrue.

Pick a player to build a team around (white guys) and I doubt you take Stockton first tho...

Actually I would. Point guard play is overlooked nowadays. A great pg can make average players look great. PG is the QB of the NBA. Ideally, everything should run through him. And, Stockton was known as a great defender. Larry would be a solid pick, but put Stockton with Nowitzki or Mullins or Walton and you have a formidable tandem.

In the end, both are great players and it's hard to compare them IMO because they played very different roles for their teams. Bird did everything the Celtics asked of him as Stockton did everything the Jazz asked of him. What was asked of them by their respective teams was almost polar opposite, so it's hard to make fair comparisons based on numbers.

Let's put it this way, the two best white players of the last thirty years are Bird and Stockton. There are other notables, but those two stand above the rest.
