2012 SF Derek Reese - New TN Commit

I'm mildly surprised myself at the overly warm reception his performance earned. I think fans are so starved for an outside shooting threat, that even the slimmest margin of hope brings excitement, and they probably had low to zero expectations for him too. He certainly exceeded mine in his debut by hitting the 2 big three's, and their timing was as big as anything, as they came at crucial points.

I'm tempering my excitement. I want to see him do it again and preferably at a more efficient pace, but I don't blame fans for liking their new toy. At least he wasn't 0-8 with 4 TOs.

Can't argue with you there.

I hope no one gets the idea that I don't like him, or anything like that. I've just been thrown off with with warm reception, as cncchris just touched on.

Again, he went 2-8 and 2-6 from 3. We already have one McBee....

I just think it's crazy that people are talking about him as if he filled the entire void left by Maymon. Let's see what he does first...

OK old wise one, he also blocked shots, had a steal, and a few rebounds. Get off his back and give him a chance. He did lead his PR team in scoring and rebounding and PR produces some very good basketball players. If he is not better than the other players on the team, he will not play very much. Based on what he did in his first game and after being out with his surgery, He should improve with every game. You don't need to kick a player after his first game. Maybe he will surprise you.

The last sentence my post that you just quoted...

He had no rebounds in the game.

According to Martin he's got the highest basketball IQ of any one on the team.
With some of the egg heads we've got, that can only help.
Martin seems to think he's an adequate replacement for Hall , because "he knows what he's doing out there."
Can't say that for a lot of our JRs and SRs.

yikes

One of the biggest things I was impressed with was that he wasn't expected to play. Martin had said the day before he wouldn't be activated, he had only just been cleared for full practice 2-3 days prior. Next thing you know he's taking off the warmups and coming into the game. My point...he had to be pretty rusty you'd think. Yet he came out, showed poise (especially for a frosh), and he hit probably the 2 biggest shots of the game.

Honestly, if Reese doesn't play last game I'm not sure we win???

Now, do I need to see more before I give him 30 minutes a night, absolutely. But if he can bring IQ to the 4 spot, along with a perimeter shot, that's a huge upgrade over Hall. Will also really help the spacing with stokes. Having Kenny catch the ball 20 feet out doesn't scare too many people, Reese may be a different story.

ZJ where have the post games been bro?

ZJC not earning his keep these days.

I always look forward to them

Sadly, with my employer scaling back our hours, I have been working late afternoon, nights the past two weeks, hence why I missed the Western Carolina and Xavier games, in their full entirety. By the time I would have watched the games, then get a postgame report up, it's 2.5 hours after the game and I don't want to clutter the board. WCU/Xavier games I worked till 10PM and didn't get home till 10:30.

However, I will be back on Friday to do them. I got the weekend off.

There's a lot of other crap I would call "clutter" before I called your post game report that.
