2012 Recruiting Class

thinking like this is what will sink a program. You can probably forget about Schofield. Say James is here his sr year, we have 2 injuries and we're screwed, very simple. I know you guys dont want to hear this, but krowder, posey and kerby are a very very long way from being ready. If sanders came in right now, he would be better. Those 3 may surprise and have the 3rd year boost, but they're much further behind at the same point compared to the other guys.

when you take 6 one year and 4 the next you just don't have that many spots you can dedicate to the OL when your roster is in the shape ours is - our problems at RB, DT, DE, LB, and depth at WR were just bigger concerns

i mean we have 1 playmaker in the secondary for Christ's sake - we lose Jhunter and the air raid goes to a skreeching halt and we got nothing out of WR after Darick - the Dline needed a lot of help and we are very light at LB - 2 guys with any real experience

these are just bigger needs at this point than getting 1 OLineman that at best might start in 2013 if we have someone go pro early who has never been all conference and have 3 injuries in 1 year

we will get some good OL next year and all will be well on that front - we simply have more pressing needs right now at other spots

Does any one know if we have a shot with Richie Brown. 4star LB out of Mississippi. On Rivals he list high interest in UT.

that's a big hit - if you want to be multiple and run a 3-4 you need a lot of LB's in the fold to do it

We have three solid linebackers currently, Maggit, A.J., and Lathers.

Realistically, some of the guys recruited this year that are DE's will play LB in a 3-4.

Would I rather have a couple more LB's in the class, of course. Do I think we can make it work with the class we have, yes.

We'll be lucky to get 1 of the 4 tomorrow. Sounding like at 8:00am tomorrow my trust in a recruits word will take another hit, something i heard with my own ears. Believe what you want, but Kirven told CSS,CTJ, and CDD Bama was out. Whats up with these kids nowadays. Just tell the frickin truth.

Its how we got in the situation along the dline as well. Got to have quality backups.

i hate to keep referencing Bama but thats the mark of a consistent NC contender, they just keep stackin up "quality" across the board, every year. they probably have a better 3rd string than most teams 1st or 2nd. Skeets nailed it, you gotta bring in good backups yearly, then let competion set the lineup.

why are people shocked by this?!?

Mark it down. Zero suprsises tomorrow! And of the 4 recruits we want not a single one will pick the vols. Its a dirty game out there. All the other coaches out their are telling these kids that Dooley may or may not be the coach after this season. If ya want stability then play else where. I'm 110% positive these kids have herd that from someone. This class is still gonna be good without those 4.

This is not a shot at you Skeeter but they ARE NOT kids... Kids are 8, 10, 12 years old.. There are people these 'kids' age fighting and dying for us in foreign countries. They give their word and KEEP it..

As I have said many times on here, I have no ****ing use for punks, 'kids', teenagers, men, women, whatever that don't keep their damn word... Also, I'm not one of those that thinks it's ok when they do it to other schools in favor of UT..

As you said Skeeter, "Just tell the frickin truth" and I'll add a little to it, "keep your frickin word"...

rant over

I'm pretty sure one of their main sources is VolNation and our seriously ***l<ed up fanbase...

when the fax hits the fan tomorrow, we will be OK but not great as compared to our SEC bretheren

I agree that we can make it next year assuming Lathers is healthy - wouldnt be surprised to see Bohannon and Jsmith make the switch but watch 3-4 pro teams - regardless of how good their LB's are they draft them every year b/c you need a lot

in reality Latroy will likely be a OLB in a 3-4 but still need some more LB's

The 3 Mississippi school and Tennessee school are after Brown. So hopefully he will choose us now that the other 2 are gone.

So how does this affect our standings recruiting-wise against the rest of the SEC for this year? Disappointment after disappointment today.

Maybe if coaches held to their word, recruits would be expected to. Our coaches offered kids a spot to be a Vol. They asked the kids to come to camp and earn a chance to wear the orange. The kids did all that was asked of them, and then were cut loose in hopes of landing better players. Coaches did not keep their word, why bash the kids for doing the same thing? See how that works?

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but 3*(Rivals) OLB Kenneth Bynum who is committed to Cincinnati may commit to UT, he is not signing tomorrow, their saying that is a good sign he is switching. He also tweeted this:

Kenneth Wayne Bynum @JustBynum

I had a good long talk with my boy Nathan Peterman

Oh man I've been gone all evening and I see the freakouts are continuing! I also see 99gator is posting...that must mean he's confident UT doesn't make the top 15 on rivals, what a bummer that would be if I had to leave VN and you guys were stuck with him gloating for months and months.

Come on, skeeter....give us some good news!

When looking at the whole thing, I would not have traded Santos and Peters for Patterson. Landing CP would help keep NSD(and the past week) from being a total let down.
